Seeking information on desecendants of the RICHARDS and LETOURNEAU families. Specifically Thomas and Rebecca J. (Brown?) Richards. Thomas was born 1830 in New Jersey and Rebecca 1833 in New Jersey. Children included Harry, b. 1858 NJ, William F. b. 1853 NJ, Franklin B. b. 1868 NJ, and Lucie Ellen b. 1860 NJ. Lucie married in Brevard Co. 21 Nov. 1887 Joseph Howard LETOURNEAU. They were in Eden FL in 1913. All the males are listed at "Fruit growers" in the 1900 census where they are in Precinct 10 which I am told later became St. Lucie Co. I need information for a genealogy in progress. Will be happy to share information.

Not sure what obit you are talking about. I don't think any of these people have online obits. But I would be happy to help if I can.

Surnames: LeTourneau, Richards, Reaves, Hayes
"Mrs. Lucy LeTourneau, 74, wife of J.H. LeTourneau of Eden, pioneer settler of the Indian River country and authority on the early history of this region, died at her home of Eden at 6:30 o'clock Saturday morning. She had been in poor health for several years.
Funeral services are to be conducted from the residence at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Rev. W.B. Hayes pastor of the Stuart Episcopal church, officiating. Interment will be in the Ankona cemetery, under the direction of the Johns Mortuary Co. of Stuart.
In addition to the husband, the deceased is survived by a son, E.H. LeTourneau of Walton, a daughter, Mrs. Lucy Reba Reaves, of West Palm Beach, and seven grandchildren. She was a sister-in-law of Mrs. W.F. Richards of Fort Pierce. Born at Newark, N.J., May 6, 1860, Mrs. LeTourneau was the daughter of Thomas E. and Rebecca J. Richards. She came with family to Florida in 1880 at the age of 20 years, locating on Indian River at what is now Eden. She was married to Mr. LeTourneau, Thanksgiving Day 1887.
Locating when the Indian River Country was but a thinly settled wilderness, Mrs. LeTourneau had resided at Eden for 54 years. Drawing on her rich storehouse of experience, data, and memory, she had in recent years written a number of most interesting accounts of pioneer life in this section for publication in this and other newspapers. She was a recognized authority on such matters. Until her health failed, she had also for many years written regularly the current happenings of her community for publication.
Her death marks the passing of another of those beloved and hardy pioneers who carved an empire from a wilderness."

Thanks very much. Actually I do have this but it is not online to my knowledge. I also have a copy of the book Lucie did on her memories of growing up in Eden. (Although I will have to look for it). I would be very happy to help you any way I can. Since I posted this eight years ago have accumulated much information. Again, many thanks.

Thank you very much for your reply. My original post was from 12 years ago. I have been in touch with several family members. Believe I have all the data. But, if you are descended would love to correspond with you. I am updating all information on descendants. Thanks.
