Found a typed copy of a family bible from NJ. - Middlesex County that listed:

Charles Dahmer m Anna E Ward (b1868) Feb 29, 1892
Witness: Lillie M. Spader (my ancestor), Frank A. Newman (Lillie eventually married him).

Anna Ward's parents: John Henry Ward 1840-1925 and Ann Eliza McDermott d1911 both probably born Ireland (probably sister of my gggm).

Is anybody working on these families?

I am working on this family as well, but I'm kind of new to all of this. My Father is Ward Freese. His parents were Alfred Freese and Claire Estelle Dahmer. Claire's parents were Charles Dahmer and Eliza Ward. It sounds like you know the same info I know going back from here. I received a copy of the same info on the Ward family from my Aunt Delores. Good Luck and let me know if you have any breakthroughs!

This is information I got from a Ward Family Bible (typed copy) submitted by Donald A. Sinclair 2/6/1942. I got it at Rutgers.

Thomas Ward/Lydia Slover (their names were not in the bible, just some notes about them, which may or may not be correct)
Bible Records:
son - John Ward 3/22/1840-11/5/1925
m Anna Eliza McDermott b 1/14/1845 d 4/21/1911
(her parents: Thomas McDermott/Jane Little - again in the notes, not the bible records)
John and Anna's 6 Children:
1 -Charles Henry Ward b 6/15/1863 d 7/8/1873
2 - Mary Emma? Ward b 10/11/1866 d 1/11/1867
3 -Anna Eliza Ward b 2/29/1868
She was the owner of the bible and died after Jan,1942
m Charles Dahmer 2/29/1892(3 children) d 3/17/1911
3a Mae Elizabeth Dahmer b 12/26/1893
m Russell Stewart Bishop 6/14/1916(2 children)
- had 1 boy, 1 girl
3b Charles Warren Dahmer b 11/28/1896
m Reba Scargle 3/28/1925
- had 2 sons
3c Claire Estelle Dahmer b 2/20/1904
m Alfred Wilmurt Freese 10/31/1925
- had 1 son
4 -Mamie E. Ward b 3/6/1871 d 1/23/1876
5 - Sarah Ward b 3/1/1877 d 6/28/1877
6 - John Henry Ward b 4/30/1879 d 11/17/1885

I left off some children, because they are probably still alive.

So, Ann Eliza Ward was the only one to survive of the 6 kids

I'm assuming that: Anna Eliza McDermott b 1/14/1845 d 4/21/1911 is my great great grandmother's sister. Fanny McDermott - her death certificate - 12/5/1912 lists father as John McDermott, born Ireland and Joan/Jane (can't read it) Little, born Ireland. She died in Hoboken.

When Charles Dahmer and Anna E. Ward got married, Lillie M. Spader and Frank A Neuman were witnesses. I'm a Spader. Lillie is Fannie's daughter. She eventually married Frank Neuman. They are buried at Grove Church Cemetary, North Bergen, NJ They did not attend that church, but most of them were buried there, including Fannie and her husband Jacob Spader.

I also cam across a Hannah Zogg Dahmer. Obit 1/6/1994 The News Tribune. Age 100, formerly of New Brunswick

Hello, it looks like I am joining the conversation late, and I do not know how often you check this board?

My grandfather, Milton Dahmer came from Neustadt, Bruce County, Ontario. He moved to Alberta in 1912. I believe his father was either Charles or George? His cousin, Dan Dahmer, was still living in Neustadt in 1988 when I last visited. The family farm is located outside of Neustadt.

My father, John Roderick Dahmer, was born in Red Deer, AB in 1936, died in Edmonton, AB, on November 17, 1988. He was the Member Elect for Beaver River County (House of Commons) when he passed away.

I am William John Milton Dahmer, born 1963 in Edmonton, AB. I am currently living in Germany. Several years ago, I visited Hessen Theme Park (Pioneer Village) outside of Frankfurt. Saw a bill of lading for passengers leaving Hamburg for USA dated 1859 (or so) listing three Dahmer brothers - Johann, Philippe and ???. They were from Vogelsberg, Hessen, north of Friedberg in Germany. Family lore has it that our family originally emigrated. There were three brothers, but I cannot say they are the same three brothers? However, I do have a copy of the Schauss Family tree, also from Bruce County, and it goes back to about 1870s, which confirms that many Dahmers lived in and around Neustadt and Waterloo (formerly called Berlin).

I have met Steffen Dahmer, born in Nidda, Hessen (near Vogelsberg). He has his family tree going back to the 1700s. The family seems to come from this area of Germany, although I am not sure? I have seen Dahmer's from Ontario also born in Hessen? Even in Germany it is not a common name?

Perhaps with your existance we can patch together who comes from Bruce County? When they arrived f´rom Germany? And, where in Germany they came from? I wish I would have gotten more of this information before my father passed away because he had a better idea than I do?

In anycase, feel free to contact me at william.dahmer@coulter-co.de. Coincidentally, my wife was also born in Friedberg, Hessen, just 50-km away from Vogelsberg (and closer to Nidda). Small world.

Best Regards, William Dahmer

p.s. Charles and Anna are the names of my grandfather's brother and sister, and a common name in our family tree

I have just started looking into my Dahmer family ancestry-I haven't been able to find the birthplace of Charles Dahmer(my great-grandfather). He died in in 1911 but I don't know where his family was from...

Charles Dahmer married Anna E.Ward - the daug of Ann Eliza McDermott Ward - Ann Eliza was sister to my gggm - Francis McDermott.
Anna Ward was the only one of the 6 children of John and Ann Eliza to survive to adulthood.

I got all my info on them from a bible record I found at Rutgers Library.
I haven't gotten any of the Dahmer birth/marriage/death records.
Just sort of stopped after I got the bible.

Here they are in the 1880 census

I am sorry about the mistake in the last entry. I just saw it now, almost 2-years later. However, just for the record, John Dahmer died on November 26th, 1988. Not November 17th. I do not know what I was thinking?

This message is for William Dahmer or anyone else that is interested.
I have information on the Ontario, Canada relatives of William Dahmer I would like to exchange with him, but all attempts to contact him have so far failed.
I am trying this way to see if I am successful. I sure hope so.

Bill

I had started my Dahmer Family tree maybe 5 or 6 years ago. Didn't get very far. But now I want to make it my Winter Project. The information on the message board has been very helpful! My 2nd cousin, Bill Freese was working on the family tree for a while back as well.
