Surnames: Ebsworth/Lambert/Wells
I hve traced my great grat grandfather ichard Hodges Ebsworth to circa 1800. He married an Elizabeth ? circa 1825 and had at least 4 children. Mary, Charles, Jane and Richard. Charles kepson Ebsworth is my great grandfather and he married a MaryAnne Lambert from Somerset in 1851. They then went to live in Liverpool. My grandfather John Joseph was the only male child of that marriage and as he changed his surname our knowledge of that part of the family ceased. I think I traced Mary with sister Jane to Weston Super Mare in 1851, then Mary in Brighton in 1881. Jane married an Alfred Wells in 1854 and went to live in London. Richard also went to live in London and married an Ann? and had a family there. If anyone can help to trace my grandparents siblings and their families, I would love to hear from you. Lesley

My Ebsworth at that time was my gt. gt. Grandfather called Richard Hodges Ebsworth, who married an Elizabeth Shephard. So not the right family. Sorry about that, becaue I've had trouble tracing the Ebsworth's in Gloucester and it would have been nice to find another branch of the family. I don't know if Richard had any brothers or sisters, it might well be that Sarah was his sister. She didn't have a middle name did she? That's how I traced mine, because of unusual middle names. Good hunting, Barbara

Thank you, I will keep a note of your relatives name as it might be as you say and that will give me a way in. I am going to Gloucester record office in summer and am looking for a Chedworth of Cheltenham connection. If I find anything will conatc you.
Many thanks Neil

hello lacey. I found your post on curious fox and again just now at ancestry. I believe your mary ann lambert is the sister of my great g grandfather. their father is Joshua lambert . If you would like to write the address is tydewibinderie@optusnet.com.au
Perhaps we can compare notes and make a connection. If it is the same Joshua then i have a line going back some way.
Thanks Lacey, sue
