I am a descendant of Paulus Gade, born in Norway, in the 1800's. He moved to Berlin, New Hampshire, died, and is buried there.

I am looking for any descendants.

Did he by any chance have a son named Lewis Gade? I am seeking my great-great grandfather Gade, who supposedly came to New YOrk around same time you are inquiring about.

Hello -

Just saw your post. I am one of Paulus Gade's descendants. My Great grandmother was his daughter, Anna, who was born in Norway and married William Beach of Berlin, NH. My grandmother was William and Annie's daughter, Marion. When I was younger I met Elsie and Julia Oleson, the children of Margaret Gade Oleson, as they were close to my grandmother. I would love to hear back from you.

Hello - Don't know if you got an answer to your question, but the children of Paulus Gade were as follows: Anna, Margaret, William, Althea, Herman and Emma, in that order. Anna was born in Norway (my great-grandmother), the rest of the children were born in Berlin, NH. They were from Christania (now Oslo). Family legend says that Paulus was from Norwegian nobility, married a commoner, Pauline Christiansdatter Jernberg, and had to leave Norway. I've never been able to establish the truth of that story. I believe your branch may have descended from an ambassador to the US in New York named Gade, but I'm not sure. Good luck!
