He was born Feb 19, 1824 in Gausdal, Oppland, Norway. He was married to Elisabeth Nilsdatter Moen around 1852 in Gausdal, Norway. His family left Norway with my Second Greatfather and twin brother, Hans Henrik Hanson's family in 1856 and settled in Coon Valley, Wisconsin. Hans left there and settled his family in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. All indications are that Ellef and his family stayed in the area. My last indication is in the 1880 Census for Jefferson, Monroe, Wisconsin with his children as a widow. Elisabeth died before 1880. Nils b. 1852, Hans b. 1854, both in Norway, Hannah b. 1857, Randina b. 1859, Martha b. 1863, Theodore b. 1864 and finally Carolina b. 1868 in Wisconsin are his children.
