Born in Camden County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting in Currituck County on May 13, 1861. Present or accounted for until the Company was disbanded on or about April 2, 1862. Later served in Company A, 56th Regiment NC Troops (Infantry)

2. Co. A, 56th Regiment NC Troops (Infantry)
Previously served as Private in Company E., 17th regiment NC Troops(1st organization).Enlisted in this company at age 19, on April 25, 1862 for the war. Reported present through April, 1863. Captured at the Battle of Second Gum Swamp on May 22, 1863. sent to New Bern, paroled and sent to City Point, Virginia where he was received on May 28, 1863 for exchange. Returned to duty prior to July 1, 1863. Reported present through February, 1864. Wounded at Ware Bottom Church, Virginia, May 20, 1864. Furloughed on June 13, 1864. returned to duty in September-december, 1864. Captured at Five Forks, Virginia April 1, 1865. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, April 6, 1865; released at Point Lookout on June 26, 1865 after taking the Oath of Allegiance.

Do you have any information on parentage for Isaac Forbes? I'm researching Isaac Gallops and I know his family was associated with the Forbes family in the 1750's.

I have as the parents of Isaac Forbes Bailey Forbes and Mary Rogers, both born about 1810. Isaac(b.about 1842) had a brother Nathaniel (b. about 1833).This family is listed in the 1850 Currituck County, NC census. Based on the 1850 censuses, I am using the best information I can find to state that Isaac was the Confederate soldier I have mentioned. Nathaniel is the only Forbes by that name I can find in this area for that time.
I wish I could be of more help but that is all I have for Isaac. I do have more Forbes information if it will be helpful.

Would you possibly know who he married and if their were any children.
I am trying to find info on a Lydia Elvenia Forbes born about 1853 died about 1937. This Forbes family I have been told were originally from the Camden, Posquotank County of NC.

I do not have the name of Isaac's wife. He was the son of Bailey Forbes (b.abt1810) and Mary Rogers (b.abt1810). There is a Lydia Forbes listed as 5 years old in the 1860 Camden County census. Her parents are Thomas 36, Chisline 35 and siblings Mary 7, Martha 4, and Thomas 2. This family does not seem to appear in the 1870 Camden County census.

There was and Isaac T Forbes 1828-1863 who married Naimbana Gallop 1834-1904.

The couple were from Camden/Currituck Cos. and moved to Ogle Co, IL. Info shows that they had 8 children.
