My current genealogical interest is in documenting my maternal great grandmother's SHAW family history. Susan Shaw[1842-1917] was born in Berwick, Nova Scotia to Isaiah Shaw [1798-1874] and his second wife, Sarah Lyons.
Isaiah Shaw was the first child born to David Shaw [1770-1840] and his wife, Desire/Desiah Phinney.
David Shaw's parents, Captain Moses Shaw [1735 - 1821] and Ann Phinney, were married 1762 in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, and came to Granville Township (near Bridgetown) Nova Scotia about 1760, after the expulsion of the Acadians.
The father of Captain Moses Shaw, also called Moses Shaw [1704 -1792] was said to have been a United Empire Loyalist, and may have been the Moses Shaw who received a land grant in what is now St John, New Brunswick in 1784.
The Shaw family goes back to John Shaw, who emigrated to Plymouth Colony from England between 1623-26.
I would like to correspond with anyone who is interested in the same family.

I'm looking for Simon J. Shaw, born possibly around 1810 in Nova Scotia. Does this tie in with your Shaw information at all?

Simon's son, Simeon J. Shaw, was born 3 Oct 1836 in Nova Scotia and died 13 Jul 1907 in Osborne, Osborne, Kansas. He married Nancy Jane Lovine, born 16 Jan 1856, died 18 oct 1916, Osborne, Osborne, Kansas.

Looking for SHAW (JESS) of Scott's Bay, NS:

Bathsheba SHAW, a widow who married Daniel JESS (b. 1824; d. 1913). Their places of burial unknown, maybe Scott's Bay, NS. Also, her son James Reid SHAW and his burial place.

Also, David W.; Aubury; Daniel; Wyman

Morley Alfred SHAW (b. 1910, Scott's Bay, NS; d. 25 Dec 1986, Middleton, NS) and his three brothers.

Any help on James Reid SHAW and his descendants and relatives would be helpful.

Some of the family are buried at Union Church cemetery, Scott's Bay, NS.

James Reid SHAW was married:

Annie Bell Shaw, b. ca. 1858; d. 7 Feb 1900: his first wife
Selina SHAW (b. 12 Dec 1852): his second wife

Wyman B. SHAW (1880-1967)

I would like to place the SHAW story in the Daniel JESS genealogy.

Doris: My sister, Alice NEWCOMBE, has sent me your letter.

I am trying to find a family in NS and they are said to have lived in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. If you are trying to find a Shaw family in the period 1800 to 1850, then they may have lived there. I am looking for a family who had two sons named Gilbert and George. Gilbert married a Dorcas ??? in Nova Scotia and when he died in a sea accident, his brother George married her when they were in Port Burwell Ontario. If the name Liverpool is of any help, it may also help me. Good Luck and please let me know if you have any info about this area.

I am related to multiple Moses Shaws (and Zebina Shaws) and have a pretty good Shaw family history that was put together some time ago. My roots are in Wisconsin and I'm happy to share what I have with anyone that is interested. Please get in contact if you are interested in sharing what we know!

Thanks,

Drew
