Chris,
I was looking for information about Norman Bowman when I saw the message below that you posted Re: Bowmans of Virginia.
I have traced my Bowman line from Surry County NC, where I was born, back to John Bowman JR who was listed as a close neighbor to Norman, Gilbert, Haman, Tyree, and John SR in the 1820 Patrick County census. Based on their close proximity & ages I formed an hypothesis that John SR was the father of the other five.
Do you have any documentation of a relationship between Norman & the others?
I would love to have any information you can provide. I am collecting all the informational pieces I can find in hopes that I can extend my line beyond John Bowman Jr.

Thanks in advance for a reply,
Byron

I am looking for information about Gilbert Bowman born abt. 1785 from Patrick Co, VA. Gilbert Bowman was married to Lucy Brimm. Do you have any information on who his father was?
I would love to have any information you can provide. I feel that this John Bowman is also part of my family. I have a old deed dated 1797 to John Bowman.

Thanks!

You did not give and dates, but based on the names you gave, the following may be your great grandfather's family.

1880 Patrick County VA Census household #67
Aaron Bowman ~1840 VA Self
Caroline Bowman ~1843 VA Wife
Aaron Bowman JR ~1862 VA Son
Alexander Bowman ~1864 VA Son
Byron Bowman ~1866 VA Son
Granvill Bowman ~1868 VA Son
Rhody Bowman ~1870 VA Dau
Annie Bowman ~1872 VA Dau
Robert Bowman ~1877 VA Son
Beverly L. Bowman ~1879 VA Son

I have not been able to establish one, way or the other, whether my Bowman ancestors connect to these Bowmans. I think that Aaron, the father of this family, was the son of Thornton who, I think, was the son of Aaron Bowman b 1770.
My father was
Charlie Lee Jefferson Bowman b 1916 in Surry County NC, his father was
Thomas Jefferson Bowman b 1884 in Patrick County VA, his father was
John C. Cowman b 1850 in Patrick County VA, his father was
Cleron Bowman b 1809 in Patrick County VA, his father was
John Bowman b about 1783.
I'm stuck at this generation.

I am trying to locate any information on Annie Elizabeth Bowman's parents - Miles Bowman who married Mary R. Stone - in the Surry Co, NC area. Annie was born in the area in 1871. I'd appreciate any help at all.

Here is a bit more information that I found.
I believ that Mile's father, Elisha, was from Patrick County VA, and that he may have been a brother to my great great grand father, Cleron Bowman.
