Surnames: Fogarty, O'Fogarty, Eliogarty
I am looking for information on the Fogarty/Eliogarty/O'Fogartys that were located in both the Thurles and Holycross Parish. What I am most interested in is book titles that may give me the descendants of the great King Ely and titles generally describing the life of County Tipp residents during the 1700-1800s. I am also interested in any history of the county itself as well as information pertaining to Castle Fogarty.

Thanks to anyone who can assist me.

I have an Anne Fogarty b. bfr. 1820 in Thurles Tipperary, married Martin Maher abt. 1833. Martin Maher was my GGGgf, which I guess would make Anne Fogarty my GGGgm.

well this is a surprise

Can I presume that you have information on the Lenigan-Ryan line of owners?

Attached is a current picture of the castle.

Let me know if you get it.

That is a great photo that I have never seen before.
Castle Fogarty passed from the Fogartys to the Lanigans to the Ryans. The Ryans of Inch are from the next parish over, Drom and Inch, where the family seat was Inch House. It was sold in the 1980s and has been turned into a B&B and nice restaurant.
