I'm trying to find information on my ancestors. My great-great-grandfather, Josef Trutna came to Nebraska in May 1875, from Gerschdorf in Moravia. His wife was Frances Pestal (Pestalova). First wife's name was Palasova Frantiska. The Korista's came Silver Lake Minnesota from Nalisna, Moravia in 1874. Any information would be helpful. Thank-you.

I am not sure of my surname's origin, but I understand that Pesta might have had letters removed from the original longer spelling to make a shorter surname. My family and I live in Scranton, Pa. I am originally from Old Forge, PA. I have cousins somewhere in Ohio. My grandfather's wife's maiden name was Frances Styjk. My grandfather's name was Josef Pesta. He is supposedly from Kvastov, Bohemia and came to Ellis Island in 1912.

To those seeking pesta, my great great grandmother changed Pescinska to pesta upon comming to the us. Hope that helps.
