This may help anyone looking for a Dohrmann.
There are a group of people in the Latimer-Hampton Iowa area who have done a lot of research on the Dohrmann's and have a family tree put together. If you respond to this post, I will ask them if they want to get involved at a higher level. They are unaware of this post. However, I'm quite sure they would help.

I am looking for any information that I can get:
My Dohrmann's came to America in th 1870's...
Detlef (1810-1877)and Catharina Dohrmann (1811-1895)
with their 4 sons Frederich (b1836 -?)Hans (1844-1907)
August (1847-1913) and Henry (1849-1929). They settled
in Clinton Co., Iowa...I am looking for any
information on ancestors of these Dohrmann's;
but also any descendants. Three brothers stayed
in the Clinton Co. area, but we are unsure what happened
to Frederich and his wife Dora Louise and children: Julius (b1866)
Henry (b1868-) and Caroline.

Thanks,
Brice

I have met a Dohrmann from Iowa who is related to HANS Dohrmann. Perhaps if you call (503-236-7363) I can put you in touch with her.

I am just beginning my research for my father's side of Dohrmann. I do know that my great grandfather had two brothers who lived in Cincinnati Ohio. My great grandfather's name was William Dohrmann. The (n) was dropped when he came over to America. He married a woman by the name of Louisa Schormacker or Schormaiker. William was born in 1832 in Germany, (I do not know where) but came to America and settled in Kansas in 1872. If you should know anything, please respond.

Have seen your post. I am unable to respond at this time. My computer went down last week and I lost my email address base. I am going to reset it, but it will be at least a week before I can get at it. I will send you an email address of a person to contact who has more information than I have. It does seem funny that all older families kept the family names. I have a distant cousin that I grew up with that was named William.
