This is an update. My Grandmother was Leanora Arevalo and she was born in Irapuato on April 11,1899. Her fathers name was Cayetano Arevalo and her mother was Cleofas Solis of Irapuato. My grandfather was Jose Flores Gallardo, born March ll, 1892 in Irapuato Mexico. They came to the US by train thru Laredo Texas on Sept. 25, 1917 and went to Pueblo Colorado where they were married on October 9, 1917.. They stayed in Pueblo Colorado until 1926 when my Grandmother went back to Mexico until May of 1927. My Grandfather during that time had gone to Pontiac Michigan to find work. My grandmother joined him with her 7 children at that time. 2 more children were born later in Michigan. I believe that the Solis family had daughters who were in a religious society, (possibly nuns). I have pictures of them in black dresses with what appears to be the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the front. I would appreciate any information available about my family left in Mexico. 6 of my aunts and uncles were born in Pueblo, one was born in Laredo Mexico.

My family is from Guanajuato Mexico. As a matter of fact, I was born there. We come from a small town called El Xoconostle. My great granfather was called Sotero, he married to some witch called Adela who thank God died allready... My Grandfather Alfredo Gallardo has to have some other relatives which I don't know about.. I will ask my dad, Alfredo Jr....Gallardo Moreno. Maybe we are related... but we are from Guanajuato..

Do you still have relatives living there, in Guanajuato? I am desperately trying to obtain a birth certificate and having no luck. Place of birth is Moroleon but I think they are in Guanajuato, Guanajuato. I would like the telephone number to the Registro Civil there or someone kind enough and willing to go there and get it for me.

Araceli, thank you so much for posting. Sadly, my cousin Joe passed away last week. We have been trying so hard to track down more information on our ancestors. Our family is dwindling, but I am trying to do what I can to keep the research alive. I will post more information as I find it. I believe my cousin found a street address for a house that my grandmother had been renting in Irapuato Guanajuato. I'm in the process of tracking that down to see if it leads us in any new directions. Thank you, Denise

All those places, Irapuato, Laredo, and the last name Arevalo sound very very familiar. I wager that my dad has previously spoken of such names and places. I will print this up and try to get more information from my dad.

Denise,
Thank you for letting posting this. I actually came on to do it today. If you would like copies of all of the documents from the scrapbook that we had at my father's funeral, I can make them for you. They originally came from Uncle Frank. If I remember correctly, the address that dad found was listed on this site somewhere- if not there is an address on the copy of Grandma Gallardo's passport, we can start with.

Araceli, Thank you so much for your reply, we appreciate all of the information we can find! With the passing of one generation, it is up to the next to pick up where they left off.
Thank you,

I have attached copies of Grandma Gallardo's passport and Aunt Lola's, in case you don't have them.
Take care,
Liz

Hi Elizabeth,

Do you know who they married? I see the last name Moreno, although I cannot make out what it says. My dad's grandma was named Mama Lola, dont' ask about her name I need to inquire. She married to papaquico who I assume his name was Francisco. I will get back to you. I ask because my dad's name is Alfredo Gallardo Moreno.
Because my parents live 3 hours from me, I will have to get back to you on a history of names.

Araceli,
My Aunt Lola was married to Jose Arizola. Her name was Delores G ? de Arizola. I'm not sure about the naming rules in Mexico, but I do know she was my great grandmother's sister.
My great grandmother's passport was signed Leanor A. de Flores, and she was married to Jose Flores Gallardo.

My cousin Denise may know more about the family names, from her research. We would love any information you may have.
Thank you,
Elizabeth

Araceli,
If you could find out any more from your dad, it would be wonderful. We always seem to hit a roadblock, when we get to Guanajuato.
Thank you,
Elizabeth Gallardo
