I am Larry, 2nd son of Robert (1928-2000)
Robert was the son of Frank Ganschow (Originally called "Franc".188? to approx. 1984?)
Franc was one of the sons of Frederick Ganschow, who worked on the railroad from Philadelphia to Franksville, Wisconsin before he moved to Milwaukee before 1900.
Frederick married a woman with name like "Wilhelm"...arrived in USA with a son named Herman.
Rumor was that Herman moved down toward Chicago.
Came to USA from Mecklenberg, Germany probably around or before 1888. Frederick was the son of Joachim of Mecklenberg. Can anyone help me with any more information ? ? ?

Your message is interesting to me because in our family there was a Frederick Ganschow who came over from Germany with a 4-year old son named Herman who was my dad's grandfather. Herman married a woman named Rose, I believe. One of several children they had was named Ernest and the last name was eventually Americanized to "Ganshaw." that is all I have at this point. thanks for the message.
