Looking for family history / known David Grapes & Hannah Lemon married circa 1795. David would be my husbands' great-great-great-grandfather.

David is my husband's great-great-great grandfather. We have his marriage to Hannah Lemon as 19 April 1786 in Frederick County, Virginia. My husband is then descended through David's son, Isaac Newton; then John Thomas, and then Roy Montgomery. We are still fairly new at this but will be happy to exchange any info we have. We can be contacted at waterld@infowest.com.

Ohbette,

Barbara Grapes is the widow of Abraham Grapes, brother to David. Her maiden name was Clyne, also spelled Klyne, Cline, and Kline. While I have no information on her ancestry, I do have a couple of notes on her marriages.

"Frederick County, Virginia, Marriages 1771-1825"
compiled and edited by Eliza Timberlake Davis
p. 36 Minister's Returns
Grapes, Abraham and Barbara Clyne April 19, 1795 C.S.

"Frederick County Marriages"
by Vogt & Kethley
p. 100
Grapes, Abraham and Barbara Clyne m. 15 May 1792, minister Christian Streit

Yes, I know the two books list the marriage on different dates. Since both books list David and Hannah's marriage on the same date (April 19, 1795) as Abraham and Barbara's in the first book, I assume there was a mix up on Abraham and Barbara's date, and their actual marriage date is indeed May 15, 1792. This is all speculation, of course.

"Frederick County Marriage Bonds"
by Hackett and Good
p. 61
13 Dec 1803 Andrew Correll & Barbara Grapes, widow and relect of Abraham Grapes, decd.
Bondsman, Nicholas Kern

I hope this helps. If I can be of any further assistance, please contact me. I do have more information that I'm always happy to share.

Sincerely,
Christine Grapes Nelson
