My grandfather had a brother named Jonathan Hice, born in Winston Co. AL 1855. This might be your grandmothers father. I just received this info myself, and will be glad to share with you when I get more info. This Jonathan died in Oklahoma, and most of this family had moved to Logan County, AR.

Thank you for replying. I hope they are one and the same. The information I have on that line of my family is just what I posted. It's been a very hard line to find anything about. Keep me posted if it works out to be the same. Thank You Tony Ross

Pat, I thank we might have connected. I don't have much to share on the older Hice family. My Grandmother was Ivy Pearly Hice Or so we have been told. And her brother was Hoover Hice, As a matter of fact I am setting here looking at a picture of Hoover an Saphronia. The only reason I have it is because they were friends with my Mothers parents.

Hi Tony;
I too am looking for the Hice family I believe that we are looking for the same people. My great grandfather was Hoover Hice.
Word of mouth has it that he was killed in the civil war somewhere in Alabama in 1964. His wife's name was Sophronia Gipson. They were married Jan 8, 1850. Myn grandfather was Jacob Newton Hice. He was born in 1852 and died in 1932. If you could pass some information on to me I would apreciate it

Hello Marshall!
We seem to have some of the same names, but the dates are not matching up.My Grandmother which is a sister to a Hoover Hice was born around 1896 which would make your Hoover quite a bit older by the dates you gave. My Hoover and Saphronia had children named Presh, Nash,Granvil, and Thelma. If you want please E-Mail me at my address which is tonyr@attitude.com Thank you Tony
