I'm not sure if we connect. Were your ancestors from the Philadelphia, PA area?

I did find that Gustaf Seher (the one I was looking for) was born 05 Apr 1921 and died 31 Dec 1990 and his SS was issued from MN. My mother was able to verify the birthdate and place of issue for me......but we don't know anything else....anyone help? Thanks

HI - It might help others, if you would list KNOWN names - like what is your mother's name, and where was she born and any other important people related to you. Needles in name research, may get connected when you have names, and states listed. Just a helpful hint.

Dear R. Seher,

Where and who are your Seher ancestors? Not from Philadelphia, PA, Camden, NJ or Baltimore, MD by any chance? My Seher family members come from this area.

HI You are probably related to anyone with the last name of SEHER., Most probably came over to US from Germany, and then many brothers (family name to be kept) spread out all over the country and then had new families, which is how we are possibly related in some way. My problem is the farthest we can generally trace is the l870's or so, and not much before that.

Hi Joan, I realize this is 3 years later, but Yes, my relatives are from that area. I have done some checking, and you are a cousin at the minimum. Are you related to the Frenzel family ?

HI again, The name Seher is distinguished because of its spelling. You say you are looking for family, well, if you listed your father and grandfather and only mentioned where they were from, and you have moved since then, you need to find out from the OLDEST living member of your direct family all the family history you can obtain. Your grandfather may have had 5, 6,. or 7 brothers and 4 or 5 sisters, but somewhere in that tree, they all have a great great grandfather who is the patriarch of your family. Finding the brothers names will help to find your oldest family member. and you probably have lots of cousins you have never known about.
