Looking for someone with info or even the cemtery listing for this cemetery. I was there about a month ago, but could not find all the graves I was looking for. One in particular that I did find had name but no dates, and I need to find about when she died, Charlotte T Wilson. Others I am trying to place are-John L Wilson 1874-1940, Myrtle F Wilson 1884-1938 w/o John, Isaac Wilson dates unk s/o Ben F Wilson, Randy Wilson dates unk s/o Ben F Wilson, Gladys Lucille Pulatie 1933-1938 grandaughter of Ben, John Paul Pulatie 1942-1942 grandson of Ben, Pauline Pulatie 1942-1942 grandaughter of Ben. Is there a diagram available to help locate these graves. Also noone knows where Charlotte's husband William H Wilson is, does anyone there know? I took photos of the 8 graves that I did find, but the weather was pretty bad that day, I need to go back. The graves that I took photos of all had flowers on them, so someone else knows they are there, but as far as I can learn from the family none of them have been there in a very long time. Please let me know if someone can help me with this family.Would like to be able to get a death certificate for Charlotte, but no dates.

Thank you very much for the info. Do you know if there is any kind of diagram of the cemetery showing where everyone is buried?

Barbara,

I have no knowledge of this cemetery as I do not live in Denton county and there is not any information about this cemetery on the Denton county Rootsweb website for genealogy except that it exists. I suggest that you contact a local funeral home to see if someone might have knowledge of possible cemetery association for the Wilson Cemetery. Since there were flowers on these graves you know someone does make visits there.

I have in the past placed a note in a sandwich bag and left it attached to the flowers requesting a contact from whomever it may be that changes the flowers. It works.

Wilson Cemetery. Denton County Cemeteries of Texas
Transcription & Photos Submitted by Carolyn Wilson

Wilson cemetery is located about 2 ½ miles West-North West of Aubrey Denton County Texas. Going North on Main Street from the intersection of North Main Street and 428 in Aubrey go 4 tenths of a mile to Blackjack Road and turn West go another 4 tenths of a mile to Wilson Cemetery Road which turns North then go 6 tenths of a mile until it turns into Grubbs Road at this curve go thru the cattle guard and continue about ¼ mile to the cemetery entrance which is shown above.

Wilson cemetery is on two acres donated for this purpose by M. J. Wilson and wife L. M. Wilson The oldest marked grave is that of Mildred M. Wilson daughter of J. H. and Melinda Wilson b—1865 d.--1866. There are some brown sandstone rocks that are thought to be markers but they have no information on them. There are several large oak trees within the cemetery and in the spring bluebonnets and other wild flowers are abundant. Wilson cemetery is still active. (November 2006)

The cemetery does not have a historical marker yet but one of the graves is that of Frank Wilson who joined the confederate army in January of 1862 and served four months. Three of his older brothers had joined in July of 1861 and he didn’t want to be left out. But when they found out he was only 16 years old they sent him home. He was also the only family member to be born in the Republic of Texas in 1845.

Also a family friend and prominent minister of the time is buried there. Rev. Archibald C. McDougal was born in Tennessee April 13 1822 and was licensed to preach by the Methodist Church and preached his first sermon at the Annual Conference in the presence of the Bishop in 1853. The "History of the First Methodist Church Dallas Texas 1846-1946" describes him as "A man of splendid physique tall and imposing in appearance a fluent speaker and useful servant of the church." He preached his last sermon on the Third Sunday of August 1894 and died on November 4 1894 in Aubrey

This is the marker of J. H. Wilson a Peter’s Colonist in Fannin County Texas (which later became Collin County). His land grant was near Weston Texas. He then came to Denton County sometimes shortly after 1858. He is the oldest of the Wilson family that came to Denton County and father of M. J. Wilson (who donated the land). Decoration Day is the First Sunday of May each year

My great uncle might know. He's Billy Joe Wilson. I'm not sure which of his sisters are still alive, but one of them was kind of the family historian.

Also, you mentioned this Wilson line might be native American. They all look Indian, but I was curious as to why. My grandfather, who recently past-away, had a picture of Charlotte Talitha Beaty. She had a feather in a head-dress hanging down. My grandfather said she was a chief's daughter....

would love any info you have, also would you please scan the photo and sed it to me in a jpeg format? My son-in-law is a descendant of Charlotte and none of his family has any picture of her. They would be very excited. I have found there are alot of graves in North TX from Wilson descendants-Justin Cemetery in Justin and the Sam-Mennerly-Barnett Cemetery which is on private property and in deplorable condition. We were trying to clean it up, but the owner actedlike we were there to steal from him, so haven't been back. my email is ridgewaynana@yahoo.com
