Mae Belle Parks, 89 years old of Baker, passed away Tuesday, July 25 at Fallon Memorial Nursing Home.
She was born Sept.9, 1888 in Bay County, SD the daughter of John H. and Letitia Moore., Her early years were spent in Webster, S.D. where she married Robert M. Parks. In 1923 they moved to Baker where Mr. Parks was employed by MDU. They lived at what was known as Hesketville, near the Cabin Creek plant and she attended the MDU switchboard, located there. In 1938 they moved to Aberdeen, S.D. where she owned and operated Belle's Beauty Shoppe. In Aberdeen she was an active member of the Plymouth Congregational Church and the Brown County Home Demonstration Club.
In 1972 she moved to Baker where she resided in Fallon County Nursing Home.
Her husband, preceded her in death in Feb. 1956.
Survivors include her nephews Wayne Hall, Waconia, Minn; Clyde Burns of Baker and her nieces, LuClare Hutchinson, of Ames, Iowa; Orlynn Sieler of Baker, Donna Jacobs of Billings, Ilene Bradner of Forsyth and Diane Bechtold of Baker.
Funeral services were held in the Plymouth Congregational Church in Aberdeen. Rev. John H. Brooks officiated. Burial was in Riverside Memorial Park in Aberdeen.

In the process of checking the accuracy of the information about my Church, I cam across the obituary for Mae Belle Parks. There is an error as to the county of Birth. There is no "Bay" County in South Dakota. There is a "Day" County and the county seat is Webster, SD.
