Hello. My family is from Westmeath - well, my grandfather's family is. I don't think I've come across any Murrays, but I don't really have many names beyond my grandfather's generation. If you have a Bernard, John, James, Marcella, Catherine, or Patrick Carty in any of your tree, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks.

My great grandmother was an Elizabeth Carty born about 1852 and she married a Michael Conlon. I believe she had family with those names. I'll check.

Hi,
Tonagh is an area in Glasson which is just outside Athlone, Carty and Conlon are both extremely common surnames in that part of Westmeath, so I'm pretty certain that's where you should have a closer look. Good luck.

Thanks for the note. I am related to the Murrays and Berrys that lived on the Tonagh property. Are you related to them?

My gr-gr grandmother was Anne Conlan from Rochfortbridge, married to John Keogh whose sister Bridget (b.1834) married a 'Andrew Carthy' (b. 1831)-similar spelling. Its possible they are from the same family - could Andrew and Elizabeth be siblings? Hope this helps somehow. Regards!

Surnames: Murray Carty Dillon Berry
My g great grandmother was Bridget Carty, (she seemed to use the nickname Delia once she arrived in the U.S.) baptized in 1854 in Kilkenny West parish, Co. Westmeath. Im pretty sure they lived in Glasson. Her siblings were Mary, Patrick and Ellen. Her parents were William Carty and Catherine Murray.

On the other side of the family are Murrays frim the Ballymore parish of Westmeath, one of whom was Peter Bartholomew Murray born 1847 (also called himself Patrick) who married Delia Carty in Brooklyn NY. His parents were Patrick Murray and Anne Dillon. So far Ive found record of four of his nine sibling, Mary or Anne, John, Julia and Patrick.

The Ballymore area looks pretty close to the Glasson area, so Im not sure if the Murray -Dillons and Carty -Murrays were related in any way. Theres about 15 years difference in their emigration to the U.S.

Once I started looking through RC baptismal records I noticed Bridget Carty's sponsors were Thomas and Margaret Berry.

Pretty sure I am related to your line with all the families. Do you have Conlon connections. I have Conlons marrying Cartys, Berry, and Murrays in that area. Where are you located? I live in New Jersey USA. Bob
