Johnson Family - Galesburg, Illinois

Posted: 23 Jun 2013 12:50AM GMT
Classification: Query
Surnames: Johnson, Beckman
My great-great grandfather was Peter Ulrich Johnson. He came from Sweden, through NY to Galesburg, Illinois (and then on to Kansas).

In 1888 in Galesburg he married Hilma Beckman.

I recently found some family documents and trying to piece together who they are:

1) Wedding Invitation for "Emma Johnson" and "Axel Johnson" to marry at 8pm Wednesday evening November 5 at 8pm in Galesburg Illinois, 1890 (any ideas?)
2) Various letters (in Swedish, yikes!) that reference family names. One appears to be requesting passage for a relative to America.

Any ideas who Emma and Axel are?
Anyone out there able to translate handwritten swedish letters from the 1800s? (they're legible, but I don't speak swedish and without an understanding, not sure I could type into google translator either)

Thanks

D

WOW! Thank you so much. I'd found that couple on ancestry but couldn't confirm their wedding date -- wonderful additional resource, thank you.

Now I have to figure out if it's Emma or Axel that my Great-Great Grandfather is related to since both are named Johnson.

Many many thanks, this jump starts my research.

Best,

D
