S.S. Roma Azores to R.I. 1916

Looking for information on the immigrant ship S.S. Roman which left St. Michael, the Azores on June 29, 1916 and arrived in Providence, R.I. on July 8.

I am aware of a S.S. Roma that was sunk, but that ship was sunk prior to the ship I'm looking for's arrival in Providence. That must mean it isn't the same S.S. Roma.

I'm also aware of a S.S. Roma which was launched in 1926.

I can't find any info on the S.S. Roma which was an immigrant ship from the Azores to Providence, R.I. Any info on that ship is welcome. It is the ship my grandmother was on when she first came to America, and I'd very much like to know more about it.

Thank you

It was a ship of the Fabre Line.

Go here and scroll down about 2/3 of the way to find a picture of the ship and a description.

You've probably found the information on the Roma by now, but if not, here's what I found. I'm still looking for an image.

"ROMA 1902

Launched on 14th Aug.1901 by Forges & Chantiers de la Mediteranee, La Seyne for the Fabre Line, Marseilles, she started her maiden voyage on 30th Apr.1902 from Marseilles to Naples and New York. Calls at Lisbon, Azores and Providence R.I. were also made. In 1912 accommodation for 60-2nd class passengers was added and in Apr.1928 she made her last Marseilles - New York voyage. Dec.1928 scrapped at La Seyne. [North Atlantic Seaway, vol.3 , p.1134 by N.R.P.Bonsor]"

The exact same description along with an image of the ship is contained in the link I posted above a year ago. Did you read it before you posted?

Yes, Bob, and I saw the other Roma, which was built in the 20's. Since these aren't listed in alpha order, for some reason, I didn't immediately see another Roma on the page. I also didn't see a response from the person you replied to, so figured that person didn't get the information they were looking for. Thanks.
