I'm trying to find a Scott family genealogist, cause I'd like to find out if I have any living Scott ancestors still around. Herbert W. Scott is my great great uncle and he married Amanda E. Sanderson and had 8 kids: Edna,Ethel,Jack,Rae,Carrie,Willis,Albert and Grant.

I am not related, but, I am wondering why you are looking in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada? I would suspect any of your Scott relatives would be in Michigan.

From what I'm finding, Herbert's grandfather, Collin Scott, left Ontario, Canada, and moved to Sanilac County, Michigan, sometime between Herbert's father's birth (i.e. William Scott)in 1848 in Pickering Twp., Ontario County, Ontario, Canada, and 1850. Collin and his family were on the 1850 Census for Lexington, Sanilac, Michigan, where Herbert's father, William, was shown as a 2 year old.

Herbert W. Scott was born 1874 in Michigan and he died there. His parents married in Sanilac Co., Michigan on May 4 1873.

See Find a Grave: for dates & tombstone photos for Herbert's family & his parents.

Herbert's father's death register is viewable on Seeking Michigan -

William Scott b. June 20 1848 Ontario, Canada d. Aug 11 1904, Lexington Twp., Sanilac Co.; his parents were "Colon" Scott b. NY & Rhoda Summers b. England on this register. Herbert was the informant.

William Scott was shown as being born in Pickering Twp., Ontario County, Ontario, Canada, in 1848 & his father was shown as "Collins" Scott (d. Croswell 1893) , per William's funeral display (photo is here and a contact person who submitted this photo; so perhaps you could contact Bill Steele- if you click on his name his e-mail address comes up):

You have found one, and welcome to the family circle. Willis Herbert Scott (his legal name, although always known as "Herb", was my grandfather. I remember him and Amanda, always known as "Mandy" very well. Many of their descendants are still around, most in the vicinity of Lexington, Michigan, and there is a family reunion on the first Sunday of each August. Their son Rae was my father, but neither he nor any of their siblings survive. I assume you are descended from Herb's sister, Georgie, but I am looking forward to talking to you. I am Ronald Scott at Ronaldscott@ronaldscott.com or please call at 713.466.0532. Please call at your convenience.
