Obituary in Elroy newspaper, 12 Feb 1896: "A Young Life Ended. The death of Miss Mary A. Corrigan last Thursday morning fell like a pall on the entire community. Monday evening she seemed to be quite well and happy but was taken quite sick that night with pneumonia and it was certain she could not hope to recover, but she seemed to know that she would soon meet her blessed Saviour. She had always lived a devoted Christion life and death had no terrors for her. At the time of her death she was aged 17 years, four months and nine days. The funeral took place in St. Patrick's church Saturday afternoon and was attended by many friends. The body was laid to rest in St. Patrick's cemetery...."
