Randy,

Thanks for the information. I'm afraid I can't get out to San Francisco but I
just realized I don't have to or obtain the microfiche on inter-library loan
either. I found a copy of the book on the Family Tree Maker Web site under
their pay service, GenealogyLibrary.com, which has been making Web pages from
many out-of-print genealogies. It can be found with the following URL:

http://www.familytreemaker.com/_glc_/1975/index.html

It appears that this might be the original source of much of my information,
so I will look it over and add some source information to my database.

No, I know nothing more about Zachary LEWIS, the father-in-law of George
WYTHE (1726 - Jun 8 1806) via his 1st wife, Ann LEWIS ( - Aug 8 1748). As
George WYTHE was a Signer of the Declaration of Independence and a good friend
of Thomas JEFFERSON, there is probably a biography or two on him which might
add more information.

Owen

Hi try Title: History of the Lewis Family.

Lewis Family in America
From the middle of the Seventeenth Centry down to the present
time.(1893.)

William Terrell Lewis

It can be found at the CSU (Sutro) Library System in San Francisco,
Calif. in the (California History Reading Room).Or order it through the
(Inter Library Exchange Program On Microfish) ( it takes about 11/2
months to get it.)
A way to convert microfish to page form:
Is with a computer that has a flatbed scanner, it will enlarge and
tranpose the text. A local High School, or College Church, or friends
would have one!

Hi I have been trying to follow George Wythe, his father was Thomas
Wythe. George married Ann Lewis, her father was Zachary Lewis (have you
found any more information on him?) I found out Zachary was a Wealthy
Lawyer, and practiced in Williamsburg, Virginia.

With regards to your Gloucester Co., VA. query. My g-g-g-grandparents were William Warner and Margaret Howard. Is there a connection to Augustine Warner? William was a plantation owner with slaves, according to family story. According to my g-g-grandfather's death certificate, (Robert Howard Warner), William and Margaret were born in Tennessee. Of course this depends upon the informant's knowledge. Look forward to your response. Sincerely, Beth

If you check out Augustine Warner at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustine_Warner
you will find there were no apparent surviving direct descendants of Augustine Warner of Warner Hall, with the surname Warner. All of the males died without male heirs.

Therefore, it is possible to be related to them, but it is not likely you could descended from them with the Warner name. To descend and have the surname Warner, a Warner male would have had to married back into the family, to female direct descendant. Their offspring could be direct descendants.
