Looking for family of or information on Bridget and her relatives. She lived in Coolvin Tang Ballymahon Westmeath, as did her sister Margaret Bannon. Margaret (Maggie) never married and had no children. Other sisters were Annie Bannon d. 31 March 1969, she also never married, and Nellie Bannon Scully who died sometime before 1969. Their brother, who came to the us, was my grandfather. He died in 1934, way before I was born. I very interested in learning about them and their history and contacting any living relatives.

Thanks for taking the time, and I do believe this is the family I'm seeking. I think Maggie (age 14)is working in a neighboring town as a 'nurse' to a family named Daly. By 1910 my grandfather was in the us. I just have to wait for the 1901 census to become available to see if William is there. I'm sure some family is alive and living in the general area. Thanks again.

Another stab in the dark:

Michael Bannon is listed in the 1911 census as 70 years old. He was born in 1841 or so. He has a son named Michael. Griffith's Valuation was done in the 1840s.

Griffith's Valuation is available (free) at
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/

If you do a Name Search for Michael Bannon in Co. Westmeath in the Union of Ballymahon, you get only 1 result, in the townland of Cartroncoragh, parish of Drumraney. So this might be a relative (or might not).

The Bannon family is alive and well, and numerous, in Tang. A relative of mine is married to a Bannon, who is a cousin of the Bannons in Tang. It should be easy to find a contact. You can see the present day connection in this recent football match article;

Thanks TD for the link. It seems from your posts you serve mostly as a compass, pointing folks in the right direction. Since you have Bannon's in your extended family are you willing to see if there is a connection? I won't bore you details now, but if would like more info. let me know.
Thanks again.
