I am looking for any information on Lewis Wallace b abt 1817. He is the son of Moses Wallace & Elizabeth Griffin. He married Ganzada Hughes/Hughs on Aug 15, 1845 in Johnston Co. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think Lewis must have died about 1859 0r 1860. In the 1860 census Ganzada is listed with 4 children, the youngest is 5 months old. I happen to have a file on Moses. My grandmother was a Wallace, but I haven't been able to connect her to Moses.

Thank you so much for the helpful information. I have always been told there were 3 different lines of Wallace that moved to Johnston Co. (I'm sure they all connect somewhere down the line) I am kin to 2 of those lines.

May I ask you grandmother's name? She could possibly be in my 2nd line of Wallace's.

Do these names ring a bell with you?Mamie Ila Wallace (b Apr 16, 1888 - d Aug 26, 1976) married Charnie Longbranch Wilkins (b Sep 28, 1893 - d Jul 16, 1972). Mamie Ila Wallace was my Great-Grandmother Maude Ann Wallace's (b Dec 27, 1901 - d Feb 14, 1952) sister.

Yes, those bastardy bonds are VERY revealing! I have a client for whom two of her ancestors (actually brothers) were named in bastardy bonds. She is still in disbelief! I'm proud of the state of North Carolina for having those records and, most of all, making them available to everyone to research.

The info we have from the Bastardy Bond is not about Marshall. Her daughter Jane had a baby with Archibald Knox. Marshall is never named on the bond that we saw.

Is it possible for you to post the info you found on Jane? Jane is my ggg-grandmother. This would be a new lead for me on what has been a brick wall for a long time. The info I have is a bond dated 31 May-1860 (Marshall was born in 1860?) that lists Ganzada Wallace as the mother and Archibald Knox as the father.

I am searching for descendants of Lewis Wallace.He had 4 daughters:Nancy,Linda,Ruth Jane,and Julia.Marshall Wallace is not Lewis Wallace son.He was the illegitimate son born to Lewis Wallace's wife Ganzada after Lewis Wallace death.Jane and 1 of the other sisters were still alive when Marshall died in 1914 Johnston Co NC.He is buried in an unmarked grave in the Howell-Tolar cemetery in Princeton,NC.Any information on any descendants would be greatly appreciated.
