I don't find Tage Valentin Vinberg in the USA. I searched with Winberg, and with Nilsson (but not with Nielson/sen). I searched with Thomas and Tom as a first name (but not with Val). He could have arrived and died already between census years. Also, he might have returned to Sweden. He might be in Canada and thus harder to find.
I did not search the British Columbia genealogy archives.
I did not search the Swedish emigration database for Tage's date of emigration - could someone do that please?
1940
Seldovia Recording Dist. no. 26, Third Judicial Dist., Alaska Territory
Ernest Vinberg 43 born about 1897 in Sweden
Eva Vinberg 32 wife born Alaska
Ivy Vinberg 12 Alaska - born about 1928
Alice Vinberg 11 Alaska
Jeannette Vinberg 5 Alaska
Mae Vinberg 3 Alaska
Three of Ernest's sons in 1940 (his children per Find a Grave, not verified by me):
1940
Ouzinkie, Third Judicial Division, Alaska Territory
Ernest Vinberg 14, born in Alaska
Hubert Vinberg 12, born in Alaska - born about 1928
Emil Vinberg 10 born in Alaska
These boys are “inmates” at a “Mission,” about a dozen children there with a housemother
This seems to be Kodiak Baptist Mission, an orphanage at Ouzinikie on Kodiak Island, Alaska, built in 1938, also called “the Fourth Mission.”
More about the mission, LINK:
http://www.tanignak.com/Baker%20Cottage%20Orphanage.htmThe mother of these boys is here in 1940 (per Find a Grave obit for Katherine):
1940
Unalaska, Third Judicial Division, Alaska Territory
Andrew P. Kashevaroff 32 b about 1908 in Alaska, janitor, USIO Hospital
Katherine Kashevaroff 33 b abt 1907 Alaska (=Katherine Fox Vinberg)
Esther P. Vinberg 15
Donald J. Vinberg 9 - born about 1931
Walter A. Kashevaroff 4 (=called Andrew)
Norman D. P. Kashevaroff 2
The set up is a little unusual. I wonder if any of the children could be Tage's, taken in by Ernest and Katherine?
