Janet's brother Adam came over in 1912 . ships manifest say's he was staying with mrs Drysdale in long island.
James was a coastguard. i have a name Bimbrim land,
it makes no sense to me.
i would appreciate any help in finding James and Janet.
they had four children.

"bapkas",

http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup_weif_5a.asp?src=%2Fc...
Be sure you look at both pages of manifest.

Adam GROAT (with daughters Eva & Lilian) Arr. Ellis Island on Lusitania (Liverpool 17/Feb/1912 - New York- 24/Feb/1912), going to brother Tom GROAT 250 Jamaica Ave.n., Long Island City( NY ). His nearest relative "whence...came" was sister "Mrs. Drysdale, Coastguard Station Burntisland".

TOM

EDIT:

Maybe the DRYSDALE found here?

Hi Tom (& Bapkas),

I had a peek at page 2 of the ship manifest, and to me, it looks like the brother's name is listed as "Wm Groat", not Tom ... although I can see how you can derive that from the handwriting.

Bapkas - this is the address the William Budge Groat (age 11) was also going to in Sept. 1912.

Yes, now that I look closer, I agree with "Wm.", especially seeing a "W" just a few lines below in the same handwriting and just a bit clearer.
I want to give a sincere thank you for posting. It looks like a few of you are having a very productive and intriguing search in response to the most recent query by Bapkas regarding the GROATs! Had you not replied here, there would have been no reason for me to ever notice the story you folks are uncovering.

Carry on, :)

TOM
