While browsing saw ur msg re Richard Shaw and wondered
whether he was born late 1700s or early 1800s in the
Louisbourg -Main a Dieu area of cape breton.
My 4x grandfather married an ellen shaw in 1836 and her brother richard was a witness. There is also a widow Maria
Shaw in the 1861 &71 census of Main a Dieu.
Is it possible they are the same ones you are researching ?

You never know so i thought i'd ask

Well sue ,i think you and i are on the same trail here as i
believe your Richard Shaw was my great great great grandmothers brother and was a witness to her wedding to
Thomas Lahey on jan 10 1833 at Sacred Heart in
Sydney .When you say your great grandmother lived in Main A Dieu was she a Shaw also?
I also have my Grandfather Michael's sister Sarah (sadie) Lahey both born in main a dieu
married a Clarence Shaw from main a dieu and they had quite a few children in Glace Bay and visited my grandmother in Port Morien all the time.If any of this is familiar i have some info we can share and possibly help each other fill in some branches in our respective trees.
Great to hear from you
best regards
BOB

Hello Sue ,i must apologize for my delay in replying.I had a first cousin and a good friend both of whom passed away in the last 10 days.
I just got into the Shaw branch of my tree but have managed to garner bits and pieces here and there about them.
Are you primarily interested in Richards descendants or are
you gathering info on the whole family?
I have a few things to check out but will be able to send you
what i have shortly.
I'll be in touch
BOB

Hi Bob - I hope you have the same email as you did back in 2001.

My Grandfather was Clarence Shaw and Grandmother was Sadie Lahey. My uncle Garfield still lives in Cape Breton and has also worked on the family tree.

I would be really interested in connecting with you online.
I live in Toronto.

Hello Bob. I noticed a couple of old postings that referenced the family of Clarence Shaw and Sadie Lahey. Clarence Shaw is in my family tree - the son of Margaret MacDonald and George Shaw. Margaret McDonald was my great-grandfather's sister. I have very little information on Clarence's family, and would be delighted to hear from you.
