My FORDs left Ireland in 1830's but right age for Nora FORD's generation. They lived in Ballina, Co Mayo, just north and east of Galway. They were married in Kilmoremoy Parish, which may be of help to you. Married MEARS/MEER and onnected to Pat REDDINGTON, Ann LEACH, GERAGHTY & GRIFFITH in church record. There are still lots of FORDs there...not the same family as FORDE (that is more recently from England). Some from Co Mayo went to England, some to Canada, mine to US. Many from this county went to PA, mine to IL. My dna matches GALLAGHER, FOY, GERAGHTY, KELLY & others.

I just found a Thomas Patrick CONROY (mistakenly written CONBOY) b 1893 Co Sligo, Ireland, who m. Maria MEER (1888-1932). Maria was b in Mullaghowney, Co Mayo (right next to Co Sligo) d 22 Mar 1932 in Philadelphia, PA. Her parents are Michael MEER (1849-1916) and Mary Agnes MULLEN (1862-1944). Children of Maria and Thomas are Kathrine b 1919 and Christopher b 1920. You might try the CONBOY spelling too, obviously mistake probably by census taker. The MEER/MEARS family all lived in and around the town of Ballina. At one time half of Ballina was in Co Mayo and the other half Co Sligo!

This Tommy Conboy was, in fact, my mother's uncle. My grandmother was Catherine Meers the sister of Maria Meers- Conboy. I don't know why, but they changed the name from Meer to Meers when they came to America.
But it was actually Thomas Conboy. He was, I believe, the son of Ellen Conboy of Clooneen-Shanly in Co. Longford.

I think that there were likely a number of marriages between the FORD-MEER/MEARS families. You have John FORD b 1810 Co Mayo, who emigrated to Shelby MO, USA. John FORD b 1810 Co Mayo, d Shelby MO was father of Bridgette E FORD (1934-1898) who m Thomas B CONBOY. My g'g'grandfather Bartley FORD went on a mysterious trip to Milan MO after he retired...he died in Milan, and his body was ret'd to Chicago for burial. I have always believed he went to MO to see a relative, and looked for a connection...this could be it! Milan is less than 100 miles from Shelbina town, and perhaps the CONBOYs lived even closer than that. I think there were lots of CONBOYs in Co Sligo, right next to Ballina, Mayo too, where the MEERs and FORDs lived in 1833 and earlier. Maria's & Catherine's parents lived in Scraugh Co Sligo, then Mullaghowney, Co Mayo. CONBOY is also CONWAY. I have the MEER family in my tree. You can write to me at bbyboom@hotmail.com and I will share more.
