He married Ebby Thompson the daughter of Wade Hampton Thompson and Dehlia Hone. All of these people are buried in the cemetary at Occupi One. I may have some additional info will see if I can find it. Hope this helps!

According to Ernest Thompson, disceased, of Pitkin, Vernon Parish, Alec was the son of Edmund and Martha Thompson. Alec married (2nd wife) Pochahontas, their issue included Guy, Wesley, Huey, "Short" Barney. The youngest child of Edmund and Martha was "Long" Barney, who married Liddy Doyle (Dial, Dyal, however you want to spell it). Barney and Liddy's daughter Martha married Marion James, their grandddaughter is my wife Patty (Hicks) Sullivan.

I have an Alexander Thompson (son of Edmund Thompson and Martha Howard) He was born abt 1852. He married Adeline Maricle abt 1884. He may have married again. Is the Pocahontas you are referring to Pocahontas Doyle/Dial daughter of Jackson Dial and Nancy Mancil. Can you tell me when "Long" Barney was born? I do not have him listed as a child of Martha and Edmund. I also need any info on Edmund and Martha with them I hit a brick wall. Thanks. By the way Ernest Thompson was the son of Wade Hampton Thompson and Eliza Doyle/Dial. Wade was the son of Edmund and Martha, and Eliza was the daughter of Jackson and Nancy. All of these people lived in or around the Pitkin area of Vernon Parish.

From notes from interview w/ Ernest Thompson June 1994

Two brothers and a sister crossed the Cane River to settle in the Vernon Parish area. Alec, Edmund and Betsy. They had lived near the Cane River with their father William, who was killed in a hunting accident on the Cane. William's brother's name was John.

William had emigrated from Ireland and had landed in Massachusetts, coming through Tennessee before settling in the Cane River area.

Edmund married Martha Howard; Alec married Emily Ware and Betsy married a full Indian chief, their son was Simon Willis.

Issue of Edmund and Martha: William, Wesley, Alec (2nd wife Pochahonta, kids incl Guy,Wesley, Huey, Short Barney), Enis and Wade (whose son Ernest was source of this info), Evie,Kezia(married John),Sinie, Sugar(maried Chris Perkins),Tennessee and Barney (called Long Barney, youngest of the kids). Barney born 1870, from 1880 Vernon Parish census (ED48,Pg 19), Edmund Thompson(54) is listed with son Edmund B. Thompson(10). So Barney is evidently middle name.

Barney's 1st wife Liddy Doyle (killed by lightning strike), 2nd wife Louisa Calhoun.

I responded to the Thompson surname. My mother is a Johnson from the Pitkin area and my grandmother is a Droddy,Ethel the first name. She is still living at the age of 91. Her brother was Hadley Droddy whom passed away a couple of years, ago. His widow is still living in the pitkin area, as well as his two sons. My father was a Thompson and my mother a Johnson both from Pitkin. So we're pretty much related to everyone across the river. would love any information you may have. My grandfather was Claiborne Johnson and he is buried at Blue Branch Cementary, as well as his parents and his grandparents. thanks!

thank you for responding to my inquiries. Iam not very good with this computer and I have ask my sister to contact you for info. I'm afraid I may not be able to retreive info. sorry for the inconvenience! You sent me a chart and thompson family history, but I was unable to figure out how to download, etc. Is their another way for me to get this info from you, in case my sister is not successful?
Re: thompson's: My grandfather was Matthew Thompson, brother to Ernest Thompson and son of Wade and Eliza Thompson. Note that Eliza and Pocahontas Dial were sisters!
Ernest and Matthew Thompson have one living brothe alive near Plainview school named Ed Thompson. There may be a sister living named Lilly. Most of the Thompson' are buried at Occupy 1 church(ten mile). I spoke with my father today and he remembers Aunt Pocahontas and Grandma Eliza. My Uncle, Earl Thompson(Matthew's son) lives in Oakdale and owns a gas station there. He is the oldest child of Matthew Thompson and Ethel Droddy(whom is living at 91). Aunt Pocahontas lived with Earl Thompson in her later years. I have following dates: Eliza Dial(Doyle) mother to Ernest and Matthew was born Jan.14,1880-Jan.16,1965. Wade Thompson May 20,1858-Jan.21,1932. Some of their children were Matthew,Julius, Ernest and Jim. I'm not sure if Ed and Lilly Thompson were half brother and sister to them. I think they were.
My grandmother was a Droddy(Ethel). Her father was Mazlee Droddy and her grandfather was Sam Droddy. We also beleive the great grandfather to be Adney Droddy. perhaps the one that came over? We don't know! There's also some Droddy's in Virginia that are related. My grandmother Ethel remembers many stories of aunt Pocahontas and her mother in law , eliza. She recalls them being Indian with long dark hair. My aunt edna mae bass, grew up with Eliza(her grandmother). In regards to the Droddy's, my grandmother beleives that the ancestor came over as a very young man. Two brothers came with him and stayed for 20 years and then left and returned to their country. This is only verbal hearsay. Sam Droddy married Mary Ware!
Thank you for sending the info on the Johnson's. I beleive the one in Cravens could be my grandfather. He is buried in Pitkin at Blue Branch , as well as his parents and grandparents. There is also a Dial(Doyle) graveyard that my father has spoken of. Very small and in the woods, somewhat difficult to reach. Do you have any info. on the Wisby's ? I hope that you will receive this info and I apologize for being so illeriate on this computer. I'm afraid I will not be able to find myself back to this forum, as this is the first time I have done any type of responding, etc. I beleive there is a family connection. Perhaps, your wife and I have the same grandparents down the line. I would love to see the thompson family history and the chart.thank you and i hope to hear from you.

Mr. Sullivan,
I have info on Edmund, not sure if correct. hope you can help with the time period and dates. I came across Edmund Thompson born April 11,1787 died march 3 1830. Parents William Jr. Thompson and mother Frances Jackson Mills. there is no spouse listed for Edmund Thompson, with these dates. I came across the earlier date 1630's, with Martha Fiske, but Edmund's parents were John thompson and Anne Hastings. In addition, there is one other resource, There is an Edmund Thompson listed with spouse being Ann ANderson and his parents being William Thompson and Margaret Charles. There are no dates with this info. Any idea or info you can share? I will continue searching, as it's very late in the evening now. thank you , Donna
