I would very much like to learn more About the "Healey Asylum" Located in Lewiston Maine. As children 1921-1929 my father(Leo Philippe Melancon) and his sister were placed in this Home for children (Run by the Grey Sisters from Canada)

I am looking for anyone who may have been there during that time or may know of someone who was there at that time or anyone who can tell me more about this home

Thank You

HI, I was there around 1962. When I was there the majority
of Nuns spoke only Canadian. Don Bosco was where they went camping. Marcott Home was near and similar, but for
the girls only. I was very young (6+7). It was a lonely place.
Big rooms for many beds. I was separated from my two older brothers in another area. Church bells at nite( hourly).Sorry I
couldn't give you more.

As a child growing up in Lewiston I had family that was placed in the Healey Asylum. Male children went to the Healey Asylum, but female children went to the Marcotte Home. This too was run by the Grey Nuns. Perhaps I can help you

She was born about 1882, I heard her mother died and her Father left her to be raised by the grey nuns,, Father's name Macaire Lacourse, mother Rasanna, (Rosana) LaMontagne, (LeMortain)... Trying to trace ancestry...

Do you know if any records of either the Healey or Marcotte have been placed somewhere for posterity? I had 3 aunts who might have been in the Marcotte Home for a few years and an uncle who was probably at the Healey since when his sisters went to get him he spoke only French. Thanks in advance.
