They were married on Sept 22, 1896 in Franklin Co.Tennessee. Grundy Co may have been Franlkin Co at that time.I have an old portrait of my great grandfather with the name T.J. Although not related to the Harrison family, I've been researching several families in the Grundy County area. In the book, "Homecoming '86 History of the Elk River Valley (Pelham Valley) of Grundy County, TN" compiled by Arlene Partin Bean and Janelle Layne Coats:

"Although there are few Harrisons in the Pelham Valley today, before the Civil War they were one of the valley's few wealthy families. Several massive Harrison tombstones in an old cemetery behind the Shell gas station (I believe it is a different gas station now- SG) at the I-24 interchange attest to this fact. Thomas Harrison, a Revolutionary War veteran, was the pioneer settler. He was born in Maryland about 1760 and lived in Lincoln County, N.C., during his service. This Harrison had pioneering in his blood, for he lived in Kentucky, Indiana, Missiouri, and Alabama before settling down in Grundy County. Thomas' widow, Nancy, was said to be incompetent by family members wanting to control her wealth, but she fought back by circulating a petition vouching for her sound mind, which many of her neighbors signed. Some of the Harrisons who once lived here went to Alabama. The 1860 census shows Jeremiah and Miles Harrison with large families. One of Jeremiah's sons was Thomas Jefferson Harrison (1824-1904) who raised a large family near Tracy City. The name Garrison Harrison is an unusual one which shows up in early Grundy County records."

Hope this helps!

Sharon,
I would like to know more about the information that you have on on the Harrison family in Grundy County. Thomas Harrison was my GGGG grandfather and Miles Harrison was my GG grandfather. Thomas' son (and Miles's father) was Elijah and he is my GGG grandfather.
Miles did move to Calhoun County, Alabama. I know that a few of his children moved to Texas and Oklahoma (including my G grandfather)
I had managed to trace the family to Pelham and the Elk River Valley, but nothing specific. One of Thomas' and Nancy's daughters married a Sartain. From that I found the location of Sartain Springs northeast of Pelham and along the Elk River. I assumed they must have lived near there.
I would appreciate any additional information.
David

I will check my Grundy County sources and send you what I find via email. It may take a while to gather it all together. If I'm lucky, I may be able to have it to you this evening.

Judy,

My Thomas Jefferson Harrison was born 2/8/1826 at Pelham, Grundy Co. TN. according to 1907 Confederate Soldiers Veteran Census for Winston Co., Ala. He died 3/22/1919 in Winston Co. I believe his parents were Elijah Harrison and Edney Watson.

Does this help at all?

Suzy

Dear Suzy
I have more information about Elijah and Edney Harrison if you would like more. Was your Thomas J. Harrison married to Louisa J. Turner? She is the daughter of John Turner. I am writing a book about the descendents of Thomas Harrison and Nancy Pack (Elijah's parents). I am also on a quest to find as many descendents of them as I can find. I am planning a family get together so we can all meet each other. Sincerely Judy
