If you are researching KEYES that lived in Illinois and then Minnesota in the mid 1800's into the 1900's Perhaps we are looking for the same people. You can contact me at fcmound@freewwweb.com

My grandmother, Ellen Minnesota Keyes (born 6/29/1895 Montevideo, Chippeva Co. MN, died 5/11/1965 LaGrande,OR) came from MN. There were seven children of Ruthwen Sumner Keyes and Mary Lavina Manuel: Edwin Frank, Clarence Manuel, Ruth Hazel, Gladys Louise, Lynn Sumner, Ellen Minnesota, and Jamie Mclellan--all born in S.Dakota(1886) or MN(beg. 1888 or 1890). I am interested in locating information on Mary Lavina Manuel's family(she was my greatgrandmother). She was born in Farmington, Wisc. 2/17/1859 and died in Jamul, CA 11/12/1949, altho I know little else about the Manuel family(except they may have been in the legal business-lawyers/judges?) We do have the Ruthven, Edwin, Danforth,Edward, Solomon Keyes line
family history into Ashford, Conn.

My mother is a KEYES, and I have traced her family back to 1790 in the US.
I have no idea at this time if they were of Irish roots.

Dear Connie

I am searching for information on my great-great grandfather Walter Keyes. He was born in Missouri. I don't know his birthdate; but his daughter Clara Belle was born 05-22-1888 in Joplin, Missouri. His wife was Ann Gunn of Canada.

Hopefully some of us can help each other with this search. Thank you so much.

So far George Carr data is very reliable. He thought that we might have pulled off a reunion this past summer. But it does take a village. Keyes Ferry in Virginia is Probably a good place to have it. Right? I live in Fairmont, MN Kate Kellum Billett snooks1@frontiernet.net

My grandfather was Clarence Manuel. Probably not your relative but then again, I know very little about him. He served in WWI, received the purple heart and died sometime in the '40's. His wife was Eunice. I thought he was from Pennsylvania but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

I am assuming that your Clarence Manuel was not a Keyes? If this is true, then all I know of the Manuels is that Mary Lavina Manuel(my greatgrandmother)'s parents were: George W. Manuel and Rebecca McLellan. I don't know if one of her brothers was "Clarence Manuel" or if prehaps that was the name of a grandfather. Mary and her husband, Ruthven Sumner Keyes, did name a son(second son) Clarence Manuel Keyes, so maybe that name was in her Manuel family side. I would love to share any info I have with you. Michal
