This family was from White Clay Creek Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware.

In 1801, at least five of their sons, William, Eli, Smith, John, and Joseph, headed west, settling in Beaver County north of the Ohio and east of the Beaver rivers. To my understanding, four of the brothers remained, while William left after some time and continued on to Richland County, Ohio.

I am a ggg grandson of Eli (b. 10/23/1788).

Many (if not all) of the postings under this McDanel surname listing are descendants from this line.

I checked the rootsweb surname mailing lists, and they do not have a correct mailing list for us with the correct spelling of our surname (they do have a McDanal). If you check the postings, you will see I first posted in 1999. Since then my email has changed on several occasions, and unfortunately, I was not getting notifications of the postings.

Anyway, let me finally get to the point. I am contemplating establishing a McDanel site at myfamily.com (another ancestry.com site). It would allow us access by invitation only and would give us a place to congregate, exchange information, post photos, relate stories, upload gedcoms or rtf files, etc. However, since it is a yearly subscription service, I would like to know if there is enough interest to make it worth my while (and money). Please email me at kejafu@zoominternet.net if you are interested.

Margaret S. McDanel married James A. Barrett, my gggrandfather in Beaver County, PA. I would be interested in being a member of your home page. Maybe someone out there will have some info on my family of McDanel and Barretts.

Kevin-
I'm definitely interested in the web site, if you would be good enough to set it up. I will gladly contribute what I have.

My ancestor is a Joseph McDanel who married a Rebecca Delaney. I only have 1 son listed so far, him being Samuel who married Rebecca Dix (b. in OH). Does this fit into your McDanel line of the five sons? I know they lived in Beaver Co./Lawrence Co., PA most of their lives. They had 13 children.

In March of 2006, Kevin Futato sent a message about sighning up for the McDanel Webpage. I haven't heard anything more. I am still very interested in signing on. If there is an expense, I would be willing to help defray the cost. My ggrandfather James Barrett, married Margaret McDanel. I believe her father was Joseph. I am hoping that maybe through the McDanel connection, I can find out more about Barretts.
