Does anyone know what has become of this cemetery? It once had lots of marked graves, but now only a few unmarked ones I hear. Can someone let me know? Ebey burials there were once marked, but not now.

Im not sure exactly where this cemetery would be located....Have you searched Lacemeteries.com?

There is a map here from that site:

http://www.la-cemeteries.com/Maps/East%20Feliciana/EF071MapV...

I do not see a transcription available either from that site.

USGS lists this cemetery under an ALTERNATE NAME.

Variant Name
Rousseaux-La Combe Cemetery

Norwood Cemetery 555518 Cemetery East Feliciana LA 305829N 0910608W 315 Wilson - 04-JUN-80

History books may have information about Rousseaux La Combe Cemetery instead of Norwood. That's good to know from USGS!

Find a Grave lists 12 known internments.

When was the last time you visited this cemetery? It appears that memorials on FAG have been created and persons interred as late as January 2010, but no photographs are available of any of those listed as the 12 internments.

Hello,
On Find A Grave I put the 5 Ebey's in there for the Norwood Cemetery & I was talking with a person from that area working on my request for photos. He went to the exact site and did not find my family's headstones but lots of unmarked graves. I have never been there. Based upon the D.A.R. recordings in the 1950's/60's it had alot of people in it. The other cemetery you mention (Rousseaux-LaCombe)is located in St Tammany Parish. My family had mentioned in the past that their grandparents & some uncles were buried in the Norwood Cemt, located in Norwood. I looked in the surrounding cemeteries first & realized that the correct cemetery for my family & the DAR recordings was the same cemetery. Right now the GNIS website is down, but I will look later, but wanted to reply to you. I just stopped to see my e-mail.
Thanks,
Marlon

ADDENDUM:
I just posted requests for photos through Find A Grave for the others in the cemetery and of the site as a whole and the entrance to the cemetery. Hopefully we'll see something within the week or two??

We should take a look at the book citation:

Alleman, Elise A. The Legend and History of Place-Names of Assumption Parish. Baton Rouge, Louisiana: Louisiana State University Thesis, 1936. v2/p239

To see why USGS listed it as an alternate name for NORWOOD, EAST FELICIANA. Otherwise, I would think they are in the wrong spot, too.
