I'm looking for information on an Alfred L. Grimes born 1851, Kirklin, Clinton Co, IN. Alfred was married to Sarah E. Frazier in 1874. Sarah was born in 1851 also in Kirklin. I have some information on the Fraziers but I'm looking for Alfred's parents. I've heard that an Alfred L Grimes family reunion is held every year in Tipton Co, IN, if anyone has information on this family reunion or Alfred's parents I would really appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks,
Denise

all most all of the grimes in Ind. are related one way or another. they started out in ind about 1815 before the state did. I am related to Abige grimes who was the one of at least 2 sons of Charles Grimes that settled in the New Albany. There is one other branch of the grimes that I know of but they are not close relation if any. easiest way to find information on the grimes is to get phone number of one living in the sulivan IN or greencastle IN area. I think there are still some living in the Swiss City area also. Abige was married 5 times and my grandfather was his last child. as a result I dont know much more about the family. I know abige lived in the greencastle area and was married to a martha murphy about 1850. I think she was his second wife. I know there were two children but don't know thier names. sorry not a lot of help but maybe its a little. any questions contact me at scotishrenegade@aol.com

Stephanie,

So far I have not identified an Issac Russell Grimes in my Grimes family, but if I ever do I'll write you. Next time I'm down at the National Archieves in Denver I'll look Issac up in the 1880 census, maybe he'll be there with a young family.

Good Luck,
Denise

There is no Isaac or Russell Grimes of the right age in the 1860 IN csnsus. Have you sent for his death certificate? I have a lot of information on early Grimes families in IN. If death certificate lists parents I might be able to tie him into one of the lines I have been working on. Bev

Stephanie,
In the 1860 Census for Boone County IN I found I.Russell Grimes age 6 born IN.
Microfilm series M653, film 245, page 902
line 12A, Geo M. 42 b KY, line 13A Eliza E 27
b IN, line 14A Martha J. 19 b OH, line 15A Jacob 15 b OH, line 16A Amos 12 b OH, line 17A Elizabeth 10 b OH, line 18A I.Russell 6 b IN, line 19A Mary F. 2 b IN. Looks like George was married twice and only the last two are Eliza's children if I am right about the marriage. In the 1850 and prior marriages from IN the only George Grimes I found a marriage for with bride Eliza was
Grimes, George / Anderson, Eliza / Parke County IN 9-26-1850. Parke County is in the same general area of the state as Boone. Hope this helps. Bev
