My grandmother was Pauline Marie Ascher who was born in 1893 in Breitenberg Germany. Her father was John B. Ascher and her mother was Katherine Schmoeller. They imigrated to the US in 1892. Any info appreciated.

Steve - Thanks for your response. My John (1859-1944) was son of Michael (1827-1874) who was son of Raymond born 1780 - all of them in Brietenberg. Could yours be a cousin?

Was reading your thread and thought I would jump in to see if maybe we might be connected. I looked at a map of the town Brietenberg and it is about 60 miles from where my great grandmother and her family is from, Milevsko CZ.
I am looking for my great grandfather LOUIS ASCHER's origins and only know that he was from Bohemia and that info was listed on his death certificate. I do not know of any other brothers or sisters or the town that he came from. I have reason to believe that he came to the USA on or about 1870 through New York and traveled to Chicago where he was joined in the fall of 1871 by my great grandmother and they were married in December 1871. The next record I have of them is the 1880 census where they are now living in Cleveland with two sons and several of her sisters. Not sure any of this will match up but its always worth a shot at getting the information out there.
Thanks
