I would appreciate any information on Jonathan Brauff (b1801-d1890). He is buried in Concord Presbyterian Church on Brownsville Road western Pennsylvania. Buried with him is Levenia M. Brauff (1806-1875) and William M. (2/28/1828-11/16/1862) . Brauffs show up on the Federal Census (1772-1890) - Alfred (1840) Mifflin Township, Jonathan (1870)South Pittsburgh, John (1840) Lower St. Clair Township, Jonathan (1840)Mifflin Township, Rebecca (1850)Baldwin Township, Sidney (1870) South Pittsburgh, William (1870)South Pittsburgh, and William (1870) Third Ward. Jonathan was a witness to the will of Agnes Stewart in 1856 who was the wife of James Stewart. Could Agness have been Agness Brauff?? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Eric..In searching for the maiden name of my ggggrandmother, Nancy Agnes Stewart, I came across her Letters of Administration. The witnesses were her husband, James Stewart, and a Jonathan Brauff. I thought perhaps he might have been related to Nancy since he was a witness. (I have since found this assumption to be incorrect. Her maiden name was actually Gordon, but this took a lot of digging to uncover.) In researching the Brauffs I discovered this same Jonathan Brauff was born in Concord Presbyterian Church in Carrick, Pa. I got in touch with the woman who had given this information, a Millie Crown of Hawaii. She has Brauffs in her background. If you would like to get in touch with her, I would be happy to give her your email address. She and her husband had just been to Pittsburgh a few weeks ago researching her family. Hope this helps.

Classification: Query
Surnames: Brauff Moreland Maneese Vera
Jonathan Brauff of Allegheny County, PA was my ggggrandfather. My information comes to me from my deceased great-grand-uncle William Moreland Maneese.
Jonathan Brauff was born in Loudoun County, Virginia on 28 Oct 1801 and died 30 Apr 1890. [I have him marrying Levenia(Lavenia?) Moreland b. 14 Mar 1806 in Pittsburgh, PA in 1825(marriage place uncertain). She died on 11 Apr 1875 and is apparently also buried in Concord Presbyterian Church cemetery in the Pittsburgh suburb of Carrick.] Their son William Moreland Brauff was born 28 Feb 1826 (place uncertain) and died 16 Nov 1862 and is also buried in Concord P.C. Cemetery. William married 1 May 1849 (marriage place uncertain)to Pauline Vera (b. 14 Feb. 1829 Beaver Co., PA) and had 4 children (the oldest of which [Lavenia Eliza Brauff] was blind and was schooled and lived at facilities for the blind in Philadelphia. She wrote poetry and the lyrics to many Christian hymns some of which were published in hymnals.) After William Moreland Brauff's death, Pauline remarried a James M. Gordon and had 2 additional children.
Jonathan Brauff's father was Jacob Brauff born in Holland and died 1815 in Pennsylvania. Jonathan Brauff's mother was Rebecca Nixon who maybe died in Brownsville, Pennsylvania.
I would be very happy to supply more descendent details. {I am not sure this will be allowed by ancestry but my email is aheinrich42001@yahoo.com.au}
