Currently my wife and myself are working on the genealogy of the Cabral, Mello, da Silva and de Medeiros families in the Azors.
Currently we have about 1600 names in the database and its growing fast.
we have info from about 1800 to 1840 now and are hoping to have the rest up to about 1900 by the end of march.
If you have any information about any of these families please email us, and if you would like some information do the same, and include as many relationships as you have from the persons you need, that will make it easier to identify them.
Also there is a collaboration list in familysearch.com for the name Da Silva, that you can subscribe on as well.
Thanks for helping.

Hi,
I am looking to find relatives/ancestors
dating as far back as I can from my father's
home land, Terce'ra (unsure of spelling?)
Azores, the islands in Portugal. I am from
the USA myself but am curious about my
ancestors from all over in the States as
well as in Portugal and its islands. My
grandmother's maiden name is Laurianna
Vargas Rodriques, and my dad's father's
name is Arthur Silva. I think they dropped
the "Da" from its original spelling. My
grandfather is from Terce'ra and my grandmom is from Pico. If
anyone can help me fit the pieces somehow,
please don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks.

I am looking for information concerning my grandfather Joao Nunes Lourence da Silva. He was born in Terceira, Azores Islands, Portugal on January 04, 1889. Died on February 05, 1977 in Hanford, California, USA. Married Francisca Augusta Borges also from Terceira. I do not know date they were married. Grandma was born on January 16, 1888. I don't know when they left Terceira to come to the USA, but know they visited in 1928. If you can help with either Joao da Silva (John N. Silva) or Francisca Borges da Silva ( Frances Silva) please reply. Looking forward to new information. Thanks, Sally

No I have no information on this person.
Currently I have mostly names from Sao Miguel, and then from Arrifes (ponta delgado area).

I will keep looking however.

Hello,
My great grandfather is Manuel da Silva (the Gloucester fisherman who married Clara Couria (I think). Do you know anything about their ancestors?

Suzanne,
I need some more information, I have about 45 Manuel da Silva's however none married to a Clara. Quite a few are without marriage records though.
All of the da Silva's I have are from Baptism and Marriage records from Arrifes (Ponta Delgado, Sao Miguel).
Maybe you can give us some dates and locations as well and maybe some other relatives.
Manuel is a very common name and without more information it would be impossible to identify the right records.

Greetings Rene
