I may be able to give you sources on your Athens, TN Edgemon ancestors. I have done some research and so have a number of other people who have kindly given me much data. My mother was born in Athens. Her grandfather was Thomas Kimball Edgemon, Jr. If your ancestor was from Athens, there must be a connection somewhere. Let me know if you want further information. Someone on-line turned out to be my cousin, and we've been friends ever since. I'd love to be able to help someone else find their relatives! Nancy

JEFF: I believe the Fred Edgemon you are looking for was my father Emmett Ashley Edgemon's brother. If so their father was William Edgemon of Decatur, Tn in Meigs County. Their father William (Bill) was sherif of Meigs Co. Fred was a farmer in Birchwood, Tn. in Meigs Co. Had one son Billy Edgemon who lived in Maryland until his death.
There was another Fred Edgemon who was a cousin who lived in Sweetwater Tn, in Monroe county. He also has a farm in Americaus, Ga.
Let me know if we are on the right track and I will try to tell you more.

You seem to be keeping up with the cemetery data bases. Fred Ambrose Edgemon, son of William Kimball Edgemon and married to Gertrude Thomasson is buried next to Gertie in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery here in Norman, Oklahoma.
