My grandfather noved to Arkansas from Nottoway County and his father was the Rev. Theodoric Pryor Epes and his mother was named Spencer. My grandfather's brother was Louis Epes and I believe he was on the Va. Supreme Court when he died in the late 30's or 40's. Are you a member of the Society of hte descendants of Francis Epes I?

My great, great grandmother was Mary Jones Epes Hardaway. Her father was Travis Epes of Fancy Hill in Nottoway County. His father was Major John Epes and his father was Colonel Francis Epes Jr. I cannot quite put together who was the father of Francis Epes Jr.?(Francis Epes of Causons is as close as I can get-Not sure what the Causons part means).I got most of my information from my grandmother who is now deceased. My great great grandmother lived into the 1930's as my aunts remember her coming to visit. She died tragically in an accident involving fire. I have not joined the Francis Epes society but would like to. Where can I find membership information? I do have pictures of Fancy Hill that I found in a history book of Nottoway County. Would love to know if it is still standing.

"My great, great grandmother was Mary Jones Epes Hardaway. Her father was Travis Epes of Fancy Hill in Nottoway County."

My great grandfather was Col. Travis H. Epes of Fancy Hill. My grandfather was Branch Jones Epes, my father was Travis Fletcher Epes.
Information on the Society or the Descendants of Francis Epes I of Virginia can be obtained from Judy Kidd at 1570 Berkeley Avenue, Petersburg, VA ... 23805
William Epes of Bermuda Hundred in VA was the father of the Francis you mentioned.
I have translated a lot of the information from the Doornan genealogical books into Family Tree Maker form. Those two volumes (so far published) may be obtained from Judy Kidd at the above address.
HTH. Feel free to contact me if I can be of any help.

I recently started an Epes Family web site on myfamily.com. I have "invited" my online offspring and several cousins to join the group. If you, Linda, are interested in an "invitation" email me at travise@99main.com and I will add you. When you have been added to the list, you will receive email providing you with username and password for the site.

Some of the ancestors you were asking about are listed in the Family Trees there.

If you are still doing the Epes Family site I would like to visit it. My e-mail is Lparke8569@aol.com.

I am particularly interested in finding the children of a Peter Eppes and Lucy Ballard. Am trying to find the parents of John Eppes of Charles City County, VA who died there in 1836. He was married twice: 1) Elizabeth (or Betsy) and 2) Frances. His children were: John C. m. Nancy "Ann" Carter, Littleberry m. Susan Waddill, Elizabeth m. John Wm. Bradley, Rebecca m. Thomas Henry Marston, Mary Ann m. Edward Glarster Major, James m. ?, Robert P. Eppes m. Mary Ann McMannus (McManners?). I give this info hoping it will help identify the line. Thank you Linda Parke
Thanks Linda

Hi --
My maiden name is Epps. I have a famiy history compiled by a "cousin" in the late 50's. She did quite a bit of research which goes back to Col. Francis before--to Kent. Please contact me by email if you are interested. You probably have this already. rienzirn@tsixroads.com

Thank you for responding. I would be interested in any information about Peter Eppes and Lucy Ballard and their children. Especially the son named John. I have quite a bit on the earlier lines because so many have worked on it. But not a lot on John son of Peter and Lucy. Which Eppes line are you descended from? Thanks again, Linda

Since I posted the previous message I have proven that Peter Eppes and Lucy Ballard are NOT the parents of my John Eppes who died 1836 in Charles City County, VA.

Just run across your message. Did you find who the father of Col Francis Epes was? If you are still looking it was Francis Epes I of Va if you Col was Ca 1628-1678. This Col married twice the second wife was Elizabeth Worsham a widow. He had four children. If you are still looking for data let me know I have some.
