Dear Elisabeth, I can tell you the the GARDIN surname is common in the Northern part of Italy, in the provence of Veneto, and also in some areas of France. My maiden surname is GARDIN. I was born in the town of Riese,Treviso,Veneto,Italy. There are a lot of Gardin families in the surrounding areas as well. I have traced my geneology back to the 1700's.
