I've been researching my Garrity roots for the past three months. My great-grandfather was Hugh Garrity, born 1/14/1838 in Ireland. Hugh had at least four sons, Thomas J., Hugh Jr., William, and John F., my grandfather.

According to Hugh Sr's death certificate, his father's name was Patrick. I'm also being told the family supposedly came from Mayo County. Do you think there may be a connection, please respond back.

My grandfather's name was James Thomas Garrity and my father's name is James Thomas Garrity and he named my brother Thomas James. Apparently those three names (James, Hugh and Thomas) are very popular in our family history. We are from Clinton, Ma. I'm wondering if there might be a connection to your family.

Your posting mentioned that your GGgrandfather had at least four sons. Do you know if any migrated to the PA coal region? I have a Thomas and a William of Irish Catholic descent from Northeast PA. Any connection? They would be approximately the right time period. Let me know!
