Hi
Hi Dottie Guinan,
My name is Mary Lou Guinan, I was born in Winnipeg Man. Canada in 42. My father was American, born in Grafton North Dakota, we think in 1899. His father came north with the Red River Settler's in the early 1900's. Prior to that we do not have a lot of info. So if any of the Guinan's out there know anything about the North Dakota Guinan's please E-Mail me at Shelia@efni.com.
Thanks. ML.

Hi Jan from Dottie Guinan in Boston. thanks for the info on Joseph Guinan. I don't know if there's any connection, but I'll look at my notes. It's hard to tell. My grandfather came to Boston in 1886 at 2 yrs. old with his father William and mother Catherine (Downey). Eight other children were born here. But your name, Egan, is one that pops up around the area of Ireland where my family originates - Offaly/Roscommon, around Athlone area. There's a few Egans as witnesses to marriages and baptisms, etc. So there's some connection to the name of Guinan way back when. One thing I do know, those Guinans were a fertile group with ten kids! Thanks for your note, and if any other info pls. send along at your convenience. Dottie

My grandfather, George P. Guinan's, father was John (I think J.) Guinan. George was born in 1889 in Brooklyn, NY youngest of 11 children so guestimate John born between 1835-1850's. John owned a farm in Gravesend, Brooklyn. Just starting so I don't have more than that.

We have a Robert Patrick "Pat" Guinan in our family. He was living in San Diego, Ca. He married my aunt Norah L. McAuliffe. Patrick was born in 1861 in Indiana, and probably moved to San Diego in the 1870's and 1880's. He died in Oakland, Ca August 12, 1914 of lead poisoning as he was a glazier by trade.
