Does anyone have any photos of the Rev William Riley Lierle x Peninah Hendricks family they would be willing to share ? I have the family Bible of James Amasiah Miller x Jane Lierle with some wonderful photos but none are identified. I have photos of James x Jane children, grandchildren etc. that I can share. Any additions would be greatly appreciated.

The James A Miller x Jane Lierle family bible lists William Lierle as being born January 21, 1851 and has a death listing for William Lierle of Feb 13, 1870.

There is no mention of a marriage.

The bible lists all the Rev William R Lierle x Peninah Hendricks children. The Great River Historical Society in Quincey Illinois has a great deal of information on the Lierle family.

There were also several Lierle's that followed the James A Miller x Jane Lierle family to David City Nebraska in about the 1890s? It's been so long since I looked at this side of the family that info is not coming to mind. But is does seem to me that William Lierle was one of them. I will look back into the depths of my notes to see if I'm right.

Reverend William Riley Lierle was born 16 Aug 1818 in NC and died 2 Dec 1905 in Adams County, IL.

His father, William Albert Lierle, was born 25 Sep 1796 in NC and he was the one who died 13 Feb 1870 in Adams County, IL.

I have a son for William Riley Lierle named William, but I have a birth date of 1847.

I got this info from the book Liley-Lyerly and Related Families compiled by Howard B. Liley and Amalie H. Liley.

Didn't know if this would help.

Thanks for the information...

Here's my dilemma; I was looking for a William Lierle who had a son George Albert. I was hoping that William son of William Riley Lierle might be George Albert's father but apparently he is NOT based on Jane Lierle bible entry.

My George Albert Lierle's father is William Lierle and his mother is Almira/Almyra Watson. I know this to be correct as I can both a marriage license (first wife) and a death certificate (signed by his second wife) for George Albert. George Albert was a physican. He was born in Liberty, Adams on November 21 1877. He died June 24 1931 in Barry, Pike County.

Does any one know who William Lierle father of George Albert Lierle belongs to??

Dr. George A. Lierley

The Dr. George Lierley you are referring to isn't the son of William Lierley; he is the son of Zachariah and the grandson of William Albert.

Dr. George Lierley was born 26 Oct 1842 in Liberty, Adams County, Illinois and moved to Bancroft (no longer exists), Daviess County, Missouri where he was trained as a physician by a Dr. Douglas Hill (Douglas Hill married Rhoda Lierley, who was a daughter of William Albert Lierley; also Hill Cemetery where Dr. George Lierley and his father Zachariah are buried was named after Dr. Hill.). Dr. George Lierley died 17 Jun 1896.

The Zachariah I am referring to is my wife's 3rd great grandfather.

Dr. George Lierley in the census:

Info from 1850 Census; Liberty, Adams County, Illinois
16 16 Vancil, William 28 IL farmer 1040
, Mary A. 24 France
, John W. 3 IL
, Henry M. 1 IL
Turney, Joseph 22 France farmer
16 17 Lirele, Zachariah 30 IL farmer 300
, George 7 IL
, Jane 6 IL
, William 3 IL

Info from 1870 US Census, Washington Twp, Daviess, MO Douglas Hill and family.
Hill, Douglas B. 50 physician NY
, Rhoda 38 keeping house IL
Lierly, George A. 26 farm laborer IL
Lane, John D. 14 assists on farm MO

Info from 1880 US Census, Bancroft, Daviess, MO, under G.A. Lierlie.
Lierlie, G.A. head 37 IL IL IL physician
, Mary E. wife 27 IN IN KY keeping house

George was living with his father in the 1850 census after his mother had just died.

George married a Mary E. West and had one child in 1890. He had no children listed with him in 1880.

I guess it is possible for there to have been 2 different Dr. George A. Lierleys born about the same time in the same place, but I don't know of the other one.

George had a brother William who married an Elmira; she wasn't a Watson though.

Thanks for the information most of which I had though I did not know that D.B. Hill was Douglas B. Hill..

There are definitely TWO George A. Lierlie's both physicans.. Both born in Adams County.

The one you are referring to is the son of Zachariah and Nancy (Wilkes) Lierle. Your George was born in 1842.

The one I am referring to is the son of William and Almira (Watson) Lierle. My George Albert Lierle was born in 1877.

I stated in my earlier message that I have George Alber Lierle's marriage license which list him as a physican..he married Susie Richardson on 05/02/1900 in Liberty. His parents are listed as William Lierle and Almyra Watson. I also have his D.C. which list the same parents.

In 1900 he is living in Payson, Adams County.
In 1910 he is living in Burton, Adams County
In 1920/1930 he is living in Quincy, Adams County.
On June 24, 1931 he died in Barry, Pike County, Illinois - residence on D.C. is Barry, Illinois.

If you happen to discover any thing about my George please let me know. I know he fits in the lineage somewhere but where and that he is the son of William..

Thanks again for your help

Check out Elijah Washington Lierly and Sarah M. Hargrave as possible parents for William Lierle. They are listed in the 1860 census in Adams County, IL with a son William born 1852. I didn't have any children for them in my registry. Thought it might be a possibility. They are buried in Lierle Cemetery.

Elijah Washington Lierly's father was Paul Wilson Lyerly, just in case you didn't already have it.

Good call but WIlliam K. son of Elijah Washington is not my William.

William K. married Anna M. Bottoroff on March 21, 1878. My William married Almire/Almyra Watson.

Thanks again...I'll just keep on looking...it like a piece of a jigsaw puzzle...I just don't know where George Albert fits....
