Laurence .L Melear lived in atlanta, Georgia in the 1920s,and I believe he had two brothers-Isaac and Luther. He had many Melear cousins that lived in Tennessee-most of them around Mckenzie. My grandmother was Kate Melear, b. 1875, Kerens, Texas, her father was Burrow Melear b. 1826, Lincoln Co. Tenn., his father was Robert T. Melear b. 1800, N. Carolina, and his father is supposed to be Richard Melear b. 1782 in Va. I, too, am trying to put this family together.

Hello.

I know we have communicated in the past. I owe you pictures of Burrough E. Melear and some of his family. I now live in Colorado at:

631 S. Loomis Av.
Fort Collins, CO 80521
(970) 221-3085

I will be busy for most of the summer. It is still my intent to duplicate and send pictures. I used to live in Pasadena, CA.

Hope all is well with you. I go in cycles of having to time to do geneaological research, and it has been a number of years.

Take care,

Charles Melear

I just found you message. My mother's mother was Elah Melear. She was a sibling to Florence, Bera, Issac, Nola, Luther,Lawrence and Veda. Their father and mother were Robert Thompson Melear and Laura Matheny.
All of that family have now passed. Bera lived to almost 100, Florence to about 98.
Robert Thompson's father was William Titus Melear, his father was Robert Thompson Melear; his father was Richard Melear.
I would love to hear from you. I was born in Mckenzie, moved to Nashville, then back about eleven years ago.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely
Laura Lindsley

Thank you Laura. From all the info I have gathered so far, it appears like William Titus Malear is my great-great grandfather. My grandmother was Cordelia Ann Malear. She married William Berry.
My father was Richmond Earl Berry, his sister was Verda Jane, his brother was Benjamin Irvin.
I also have some old letters to my father from cousins Florence, Bera, and Veda. In their letters the mentioned Luther and Lawerence.
This helps a great deal. Thank you. If you have anything else that would be helpful, let me know.

I have Malears in my family with the same names but the dates don' match. William Titus Malear married Nancy L. Sparks and they had to sons-Robert T., born in 1852, and Burrow J., born in 1856.
William Titus Malear's father was Robert Thompson. Robert Thompson married Rachel Crawford. He died around 1830 or 31.
Thats all I have at this time. I don't know if this helps or not.

Hi,
I am descended from Titus Melear's brother, Burrow Ebenzer Melear and have been working on this line for some time. Would love to share information with you. Right now, I am working to prove the parentage of Richard. I am trying to find a copy of his marriage bond (he was under age when he first married) in either N. Carolina or Virginia. You can contact me at janli@wimberley-tx.com.

Robert,
Robert Thompson Melear died on August 10, 1834. Richard Melear was appointed guardian for his children until Rachel remarried to Preston Hampton. I have been told that my gg grandfather, Burrow Melear, did not like his step father and spent a good deal of time with his grandfather. I have information that I will share with you. Maybe, together, we can solve the question of Richard's parents.
My email address is janli@wimberley-tx.com.
