I cant help you with any of the above names but I was wondering if you could help me? I have been looking, for the last twenty years for Elaine Tarling. last known to attend Ayloff Primary School in Maylands Avenue Elm Park in the very early 70s.

I have a vague recollection of her having an older sister called Susan Tarling. Are you she. I would dearly love to find out what became of her. After junior school Elaine and I did this 'bumping into each other' thing for about 5 or 6 years and then its like she disappeared off the face of the planet!

Extensive searches of all the schools in the local area (Havering) via friends reunited have given me no leads at all. I am currently in contact with David Murphy anothe rpupil of the school who was best friends with Elaine's (and possibly your younger brother) Philip. Can you help me?

Hi Peter,

I think we've communicated previously, but I can't see the details (maybe lost in a computer crash a while back?). I'm Stephen Tarling from the Tarling family history website and just in case you're still looking:

Well if Elaine was at primary school in the very early 70s I would guess she was born 1960-1970 and the possibilities we have are:
Tarling Elaine K. George 1961 S West Ham 5a 947
Tarling Elaine M. McGuire 1961 D Middlesborough 1b 967
Tarling Elaine M. Truelove 1962 S Hull 2a 506
Tarling Elaine D. Paisey 1962 D Bristol 7b 434
Tarling Elaine Marie English 1970 M Cheltenham 7b 1333

of those Elaines I can see only one who has full sister Susan:
Tarling Susan Truelove 1960 D Hull 2a 418
and she is a couple of years older (but no younger full brother Philip); their parents would have been Frederick P. Tarling and Ms. Truelove who married DQ 1858 in Hull.

of those Elaines I can see only one who has a full brother Philip:
Tarling Philip R. George 1963 M Stepney 5D 988
and he is a couple of years younger (but no older full sister Susan); their parents would have been Robert G. Tarling and Ms. George who married SQ 1959 Romford.

If you knew Elaine until about the mid 1970's she might have married since and a couple of possibilities I see are:
Tarling Elaine D. Rogers Bristol 11 85 22 0240
Tarling Elaine K. Palmer Banictos Havering 09 90 13 0264
That last entry could correspond to the 1961 Elaine K. Tarling birth (the one with younger brother Philip, but no older full sister Susan), she would have been about 29 at the marriage; in which case you'd now be looking for Mrs. Elaine K. Palmer (wife of Mr. Benictos Palmer). There are not many Philip R. Tarling's and I have the address of one in the Southend area; similarly there are only two Robert G. Tarlings: one in Wales and one in Upminster. Let me know if you want addresses.

I don't see any likely deaths of an Elaine Tarling. Of course she might have moved abroad (e.g. Scotland)

There are a few Elaine Tarlings in the electoral roll and of course she may well be married by now and not be Tarling at all, so I don't think it's worth looking at those - but again contact me if you want further details.

Good luck, Stephen

My interest is George Tarling, a gardener. He married Rebecca Wilkinson in Hackney. In 1851 Rebecca Tarling was in the same London Fever Hospital as my husband's ancestors, Sarah Wilkinson (Rebecca's sister I suspect, though I cannotfind corresponding births to prove it, in Risely, or Rosely, Bedfordshire) and her daughter Ann, who married Reuben Brown ten years later. At that wedding an Annie Tarling was a witness, unknown. Complicating this picture is the presence of Tarlings living Chapel End, Walthamstow around the same time, which is the same street and place as Reuben Brown's family though I don't know of other connections. I also cannot find George Tarling's death index. He is on the 1871 census with Rebecca in Clapham, then disappears. Rebecca seems to have died in West Ham, Essex which could be Walthamstow. Does anyone know more abt this couple and if they moved from Clapham?
