Dear All:

Please start a separate sub-thread under this
thread ( just do a reply) for each Clan ancestor.

The thread on this board (and the mailing list) is intended for
comments, hints on how to locate, and discussions
on those distant ancestors ( sometimes brick walls) that are
very hard to locate. Anyone with knowledge of the
Clan Ancestors or searching for ancestors and especially
the Clan Genealogist are especially encouraged to post
their finding on the Clan ancestors.

Please do not use this board for merely looking for
recent descendants. That function is better in the
Surname message boards and mailing lists.

Use the standard procedure in the subject header of
inserting your family ancestor information in the following format
NAME > location > dates

Best Wishes and Happy Hunting to All

Hello all! I am very new to Scottish genealogy, so bear with me. My grandmother had some info in her belongings that I found when she just passed away. One is a postcard that says Clan Macnicol with the crest, another is a Clan Tartan History Certificate for Nicolson/MacNicol. I have her genealogy up to Thomas Nichol b.abt 1710 in Nichol Hill, Londonderry, Ireland. I would like some help pointing me in the right direction to connect these two "loose ends". The David Farris book with the above mentioned name was found in her belongings after I came back home and is supposed to be sent to me, but I don't think I will ever see it.

Anyone who can help, please do! It would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Shannon

Shannon...
We have an Elizabeth Macnicol who married John Henderson and they had a daughter ANNE Henderson that married our JOHN CAMERON. The Macnicol's lived in Kilcalmonelta, Kilberry, Argyl, Scotland for that was where Anne was born 28 Oct 1832. In research I read once that some of the the Macnicol's dropped the MAC from in front of their name. So you may have a problem finding information. DID your grandma's geneaology have an ELIZABETH???
