Dear All:

Please start a separate sub-thread under this
thread ( just do a reply) for each Clan ancestor.

The thread on this board (and the mailing list) is intended for
comments, hints on how to locate, and discussions
on those distant ancestors ( sometimes brick walls) that are
very hard to locate. Anyone with knowledge of the
Clan Ancestors or searching for ancestors and especially
the Clan Genealogist are especially encouraged to post
their finding on the Clan ancestors.

Please do not use this board for merely looking for
recent descendants. That function is better in the
Surname message boards and mailing lists.

Use the standard procedure in the subject header of
inserting your family ancestor information in the following format
NAME > location > dates

Best Wishes and Happy Hunting to All

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My brick wall is the antecedents of William McQUEEN who was born in Abdie Parish in 1778. It is thought his parents were Donald McQUEEN & Agnes BAILLIFF (Bailliss?) who married at Collessie 13 Jan 1770 and then lived in Abdie Parish where all thier children were born : David 1772, George 1774, Donald 1776, my William 1778 and Nanny 1781.
I have only been able to find three children born to William McQUEEN & Christian COVENTRY, all in Flisk Parish: Janet 1798, my g-g-grandmother Agnes 1800, & Isabella Russell 1817, there are large obvious gaps here!
William is thought to have died in Forgan Parish 1831 but was survived by his wife Christian who is listed on the 1842 Census as still living in Forgan with her youngest daughter.
Any information on this branch of the McQUEEN CLAN, please contact me.
Kind regards..Keith Clark in South Australia

Dear Keith
first of all sorry if this has been duplicated very very new at this in fact only one week with computer.
so here goes,
I was told whether true or not Agnes was three years old when baptised. I think that is why the birth date was omitted from the records. That happened quite often when born out of wedlock.
I was also told that James Clark who married Agnes was born in 1796 and his mother's maiden name was Bell and he was born in Kingsbarns.
I am descended from William who married Elisabeth Mcdonald. They had twins Agnes Mcqueen Clark and Euphemia Brown Clark. Euphemia was my great grandmother. She was quite a girl she had to sit on a bench in front of the congregation in church wearing sackcloth on two occasions for having two illegitimate children by the age of eighteen. What other information do you require. I will try to help if I can.
I was born and bred in St. Andrews but now live in Kent.
Hope to speak to you again soon.

Regards
Eva Melville
